🌱 GROWING IN FAITH

🪞Lesson 1 : Reality Check

📘 1.3 Everlasting Love

Overcoming through His unchanging love

📖 1. Introduction – The inner struggle

Every person knows inner struggles.
They are not always big, visible decisions – often they are quiet, everyday things: comfort, indifference, self-sufficiency.

Perhaps the greatest struggle is not against external circumstances, but against one’s own condition.

Realizing that something in our spiritual life is not right is difficult.
Even harder is to accept it and change something.

But this is exactly what Jesus calls us to:
to overcome.

📜 2. The biblical foundation – Jesus’ promise

After the clear diagnosis of our condition, Jesus gives an astonishing promise:

“To the one who overcomes, I will grant to sit with me on my throne” (Rev. 3:21).

This is more than salvation –
it is fellowship at the highest level.

And then comes something decisive:
“…just as I also overcame.”

This means:
Jesus does not ask us to do something He Himself has not experienced.

He has won the battle against sin –
and that is exactly why He can help us.

🌍 3. Connection to today

Many people think they must “achieve” their faith on their own.

When they fail, they feel weak or unfit.
But the gospel says something different:

You do not have to fight alone.

Jesus knows your struggles – not theoretically, but personally.
He knows what temptation feels like, how hard decisions can be.

And that is exactly why He offers not only a goal, but also help along the way.

💡 4. Central message of the lesson

Overcoming does not mean being perfect.

It means:
not giving up,
trusting Jesus,
and growing step by step.

The foundation for this is God’s love.

A love that does not end,
does not grow weaker,
does not depend on our condition.

This love draws us – even when we are far away.

✝️ 5. Theological focus

This lesson shows a central biblical principle:

God always acts first.

Throughout the Bible we see this:

  • Adam and Eve → God seeks them
  • Enoch → walks with God
  • Noah → receives clear instructions
  • Abraham → is called
  • Moses → encounters God in a special way

This means:
Relationship with God does not begin with humans, but with God.

And it remains because God is faithful.

Jeremiah 31:3 puts it clearly:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love.”

👉 God’s love is not only strong – it is constant.

📖 6. Bible texts explained

Revelation 3:21 shows the goal:
Fellowship with Christ and sharing in His victory.

The texts in Genesis show different forms of relationship:

  • God speaks (Adam)
  • God walks with (Enoch)
  • God warns and leads (Noah)
  • God calls (Abraham)
  1. Exodus 34 shows:
Encounter with God visibly transforms life (Moses’ face shines).

👉 Taken together, it becomes clear:
God meets people in different ways –
but His goal is always relationship.

Jeremiah 31:3–4 also shows:
This relationship is based on love, not performance.

🔧 7. Application in daily life

This lesson becomes personal:

  • What keeps me from getting closer to God?
  • What things in my life pull me away from Him?
  • Where do I know change is needed – but I keep postponing it?

Overcoming can practically mean:

letting go of old habits
intentionally prioritizing time with God
honestly recognizing weaknesses
seeking help from Jesus instead of fighting alone

It is not about changing everything immediately –
but about taking the first step.

8. Reflection question

What in my life prevents me from truly being close to God –
and am I willing to let it go?

🌟 9. Final thought

God’s love is constant.
It remains – no matter where you are.

He seeks you.
He calls you.
He draws you to Himself.

But:

👉 Overcoming begins with a decision.

Not because God is far away –
but because He is so near and invites you.

And in the end, there is not only change –
but fellowship with Him.
