๐ 1 Kings Chapter 5 โ The Dream of the Temple
๐๏ธ When a Whole Nation Builds for God
๐ Introduction
Some people dream of building a big house.
Others want a park, a playground, or a treehouse.
But Solomon had a much bigger dream:
He wanted to build a house for God Himself.
A place where people could meet God, pray, and celebrate.
Not for himselfโbut for the whole nation.
๐ The Bible story
Solomon was now king over all Israel.
He had peace with the neighboring nations.
The people were safe, joyful, and well provided for.
Then Solomon remembered a special promise:
His father David had once said to God:
โI want to build You a house, Lordโa temple.โ
But God had answered:
โNot you, Davidโyour son will do it.โ
Now Solomon was king.
And he knew:
โI may do it. I may build the temple.โ
But such a building project was enormousโ
much bigger than a palace.
It was meant to be holyโbeautiful, strong, and full of reverence.
๐ชต Help from Abroad
Solomon was wise.
He knew: For such a house you need the best materials.
So he wrote a letter to King Hiram of Tyre, a neighboring country.
Hiram had been a friend of Solomonโs father David.
Solomon asked him:
โHelp me get the best cedar trees from Lebanon.
Your men are skilled at cutting timber.
We will send workers to work alongside yours.
And we will provide you with foodโevery day.โ
King Hiram was delighted.
He said:
โPraise be to the Lord, who has given you such a wise king!โ
And he sent men, wood, tools, and help.
๐งฑ Many Helpers โ One Goal
Now the great preparation began.
Solomon assigned thousands of workers:
๐ชต Some cut down trees in the mountains.
๐ช Others shaped stones in the quarries.
๐ Still others transported materials to Jerusalem.
It was a huge plan.
And everyone worked togetherโfor one goal:
To build a house that honors God.
No one worked for themselves.
It wasnโt about money, fame, or power.
It was about Godโs name.
๐ฃ Summary
Solomon was allowed to do what his father had only dreamed of:
to build the temple.
But before construction began,
many things had to be prepared:
๐ฟ wood, stones, plans, agreements, workers, transport โฆ
Chapter 5 shows:
Godโs great plans require patience, teamworkโ
and a heart that beats for Him alone.
๐ Message for Children Today
Some things take time.
But if you do something for Godโ
no matter how small it seemsโ
it is valuable.
Solomon wanted to honor God.
He wanted Godโs house to become a place of joy and reverence.
And so he beganโstep by step.
You too can prepare things for God:
with your gifts, with love, with good ideas.
