After Jehoram’s difficult end, his son Ahaziah becomes king. One might hope that a new beginning would now be possible. Perhaps he would make different decisions. Perhaps he would learn from his father’s mistakes.
But sometimes it is not so easy to follow a new path — especially when the influence of the environment is strong.

Ahaziah becomes king over Judah. He is still young, and at this time it would be especially important to make good decisions.
But he is not alone. The people around him influence him strongly — and not all of them have good intentions.
🧭 A Wrong Influence
His mother, in particular, plays a very important role. She advises him to make decisions that are not good. Instead of seeking God, Ahaziah follows the example of Ahab’s family, which was known for its wrong path.
So he decides to follow the same path as they did — a path that does not lead to God.
We can see clearly: those who influence us have a great effect on our decisions.
🤝 A Dangerous Connection
Ahaziah joins himself to Joram, the king of Israel. Together they go to war.
But that battle does not end well. Joram is wounded, and Ahaziah visits him later.
What looks like a normal relationship leads him deeper into a difficult situation.

While Ahaziah is with Joram, great changes take place. A man named Jehu becomes king and begins to act against Ahab’s family.
In this situation, Ahaziah is also affected. He gets caught up in the events — and comes to an early end.
His life as king is short.

After his death, it seems as if everything becomes even more difficult. Ahaziah’s mother tries to take power for herself and has many members of the royal family killed.
