π± GROWING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
πΏ Lesson 2: To Know God
π 2.6 Summary
A clear picture of God changes everything
π 1. Introduction β Why this is so important
Everything begins with a crucial question:
π How do I see God?
Because our image of God influences:
- how we believe
- how we trust
- how we live
A false image leads to distance.
A clear image leads to relationship.
π 2. The main line of the lesson
This lesson has shown us step by step who God truly is:
π God can be known (2.1)
π God is holy (2.2)
π God is love (2.3)
π God is both great and near (2.4)
π God is revealed in Jesus (2.5)
The Bible presents a clear thread throughout:
π God reveals Himself β so that we may know Him.
βοΈ 3. Central truth β The nature of God
The Bible describes God with powerful statements:
π βGod is loveβ (1 John 4:8)
π βHoly, holy, holy is the Lordβ (Rev. 4:8)
These two truths belong together.
Godβs love is holy.
And His holiness is filled with love.
π This means:
God is perfectly good β in everything He is and does.
π 4. The great conflict β truth or distortion
From the beginning, one question has been present:
π Can God truly be trusted?
Already in the Garden of Eden, Godβs character was distorted:
βGod is holding something back.β
Ellen White describes it this way:
π βFrom the beginning of the great controversy, it has been Satanβs purpose to misrepresent the character of Godβ¦β
The goal remains the same today:
to create a false image of God.
Because:
π whoever sees God incorrectly distances themselves from Him.
π‘ 5. Godβs answer β revelation instead of force
God forces no one.
He reveals Himself.
- in creation β His power
- in His Word β His truth
- in His actions β His faithfulness
- in Jesus β His heart
π βAnyone who has seen Me has seen the Fatherβ (John 14:9)
This means:
God is not hidden β
He has made Himself visible.
π₯ 6. The decisive insight
This lesson leads to a clear understanding:
π God is greater than we understand
π and closer than we think
Or as the Bible says:
π βIn Him we live and move and have our beingβ (Acts 17:28)
And at the same time:
π βSurely I am with you alwaysβ (Matt. 28:20)
π God is above us β and with us.
π§ 7. Application β What does this mean for me?
This insight is not just theoretical.
It calls for a response:
- Do I truly want to know God?
- Am I willing to correct my false image?
- Am I actively seeking Him?
Practically, this means:
Studying Godβs Word
Looking to Jesus
Rediscovering Godβs character
Trusting Him consciously
π Relationship grows through knowledge.
β 8. Reflection question
Is my image of God clear and biblical β
or shaped by experiences, fear, or habit?
π Do I truly know God β
or just an idea of Him?
π 9. Final thought
This lesson shows us something essential:
π Itβs not first about doing more β
π but about knowing God correctly.
Because:
π Whoever knows God will trust Him
π Whoever trusts Him will love Him
π And whoever loves Him will live with Him
Or in summary:
π A clear picture of God changes everything.
