🌅 Devotional of the Day
One of the greatest inner struggles of human beings is the desire to feel “good enough” before God. Many try—consciously or unconsciously—to earn His acceptance through good behavior, religious efforts, or comparison with others. But the gospel presents a clear truth against this way of thinking: salvation is a gift.
At the cross, everything necessary was accomplished so that humanity could be righteous before God. This righteousness does not come from ourselves. It is given to us when we accept Christ by faith. This means we do not need to look at our own works, but at what Jesus has done for us.
Faith is not a merit, but trust. It is the acceptance of what God has already given. Whoever believes does not rely on themselves, but on the grace of God.
✨ The Righteousness of Christ
The Bible teaches that the righteousness of Christ is credited to us. This means that God does not judge us according to our failures, but sees us in Christ.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“The righteousness of Christ is imputed to the believer, and he stands before God as if he had not sinned.”
(Steps to Christ, p. 62)
This truth removes the pressure to prove ourselves. It brings freedom and security.
🌿 Grace That Leads to Life
God’s grace is not a license for indifference. It leads to a new life. Those who understand that they are accepted by grace will not remain indifferent, but will live differently out of gratitude.
Good works are not the foundation of our salvation, but its fruit. They grow out of a living relationship with Christ.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“Good works are the fruit of faith, not its cause.”
(Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 312)
🕊️ Assurance in Faith
The assurance of salvation is not based on our performance, but on God’s faithfulness. This gives faith a deep sense of security. Even when we are weak, His grace remains.
This assurance does not lead to passivity, but to a life of trust and surrender.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You that I do not have to become righteous by my own works.
Thank You for the grace You give me in Christ.
Help me to trust in You
and not place my hope in myself.
Transform my life through Your love
and let my faith bear fruit.
Amen.
