π Judges chapter 6 β Gideon and the God who makes us brav
β How God shapes a fearful man into a hero
π Introduction
Sometimes life feels heavy.
Sometimes we are afraid.
Sometimes we think: βI am too small, too weak, too invisible.β
Thatβs how the people of Israel felt too.
They had forgotten God β and suddenly everything became dark.
Enemies came, took their food, destroyed their fields, and the people hid in caves.
It was a time full of worry, hunger, and tears. π
But it is often in times like these that God begins something great.
Not with a mighty king.
Not with a strong warrior.
But with a very ordinary person who barely believes in himself.
Today we meet a man who was afraid,
yet God said to him:
β¨ βYou are a mighty hero β even if you donβt feel like one.β
This is the story of how a fearful man becomes a brave leader.
A story that shows:
God sees more in us than we see in ourselves. π
And when we trust Him, even trembling can turn into courage.
π The Bible story
ποΈ Israel lives in fear
Life in Israel had become very hard again.
The people had forgotten God β and enemy nations kept coming to destroy what Israel had planted.
The Israelites hid in caves π³οΈ
they had very little food π₯£
and every year the fear returned π
Many asked themselves:
βWhy is all this happening? Has God left us?β
πΎ A man named Gideon
In the middle of this difficult time lived a young man named Gideon.
He was not a king, not a warrior, not a leader.
Just a simple man threshing wheat β and doing it in secret!
He was afraid the enemies would take it away. π
And right there β hidden and quiet β something incredible happened:
An angel of God appeared to him! πΌ
πΌ God has a surprise
The angel said to him:
βThe Lord is with you, mighty warrior!β
Gideon looked around in confusion.
A warrior? Him?
He felt small, weak, and unimportantβ¦
He even answered:
βIf the Lord is really with usβ¦ why has all this happened to us?β
But the angel said again:
βYou will save Israel.β
Gideon thought,
βMe? But I am the youngest in my family! I am far too small for that!β
But God did not only see who Gideon was β
He saw who Gideon could become with Godβs help. β¨
π A sign, please!
Gideon was brave β but he was also afraid.
So he asked God for a sign.
He laid wool on the ground π
and said:
βIf the wool is wet but the ground is dry, then I will know: God is with me.β
The next morning, it was exactly so!
But Gideon was still unsure.
So he asked again:
βNow let the wool stay dry β and let the ground be wet.β
And God did it.
Calmly. Patiently. Lovingly.
Without scolding him.
So God showed:
βI am truly with you.β
𧑠God often chooses those no one expects
Gideonβs heart was still a little afraid.
But now he knew:
β When God calls, nothing is impossible.
β God can turn even the most insecure into heroes.
β Strength does not come from muscles β but from trust.
Gideon was ready to take steps of faithβ¦
and the next chapter will show how God uses him! π₯
