🌅 Devotional of the Day
Sin separates. It separates people from God, from one another, and often even from themselves. What begins as a decision becomes a distance we cannot overcome by our own strength. But this is exactly where Christ’s work begins.
At the cross, reconciliation takes place. God does not wait for humanity to take the first step; He comes toward us. In Jesus, God Himself meets us and overcomes the separation we caused. Reconciliation therefore means not only forgiveness, but the restoration of a relationship.
This is the heart of the gospel: God does not only want to forgive, but to bring us back into fellowship with Himself. He does not seek distance, but closeness.
✨ God Takes the First Step
In human relationships, reconciliation is often difficult. Pride, hurt, or misunderstandings stand in the way. But God acts differently. He does not wait until we are worthy—He takes the first step.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“God Himself has prepared the way of reconciliation and invites humanity to return to Him.”
(Steps to Christ, p. 17)
This invitation is for everyone—regardless of past or guilt.
🌿 A Restored Relationship
Reconciliation means more than a new beginning without guilt. It means that the relationship with God becomes alive again. We are no longer distant, but accepted. No longer separated, but connected.
This changes how we see ourselves and how we treat others. Those who have experienced reconciliation will learn to live in a reconciling way.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“The heart that has experienced the love of God will seek to bring peace and unity.”
(Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 250)
🕊️ Peace with God
Reconciliation with God brings peace—a peace deeper than external circumstances. It is the assurance of being accepted, even though we are imperfect.
This peace is the foundation for a life of trust. It removes fear of the future and directs our focus toward the hope ahead.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for opening the way of reconciliation.
Thank You that I can come back to You
just as I am.
Help me to seek Your presence
and to live in this relationship.
Transform my heart,
so that I may also approach others with reconciliation.
Amen.
