👑 The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End
✨ April 23 – The Light Shines in the Darkness: Hope Despite Deception
Monthly Theme: The Signs of the Times – Watch and Pray
Yearly Theme 2026: “The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”
📖 Central Bible Text of the Day
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:5
🌅 Devotional of the Day
The more Jesus speaks about deception,
the clearer it becomes:
The darkness will be real.
But it is not the final word.
In the midst of the darkness stands a quiet,
yet unshakable truth:
The light shines.
Not just at some point in the future.
Not only in the past.
But now.
✨ A Light That Does Not Go Out
The darkness can do many things:
confuse, obscure, deceive.
But it has a limit.
It cannot extinguish the light.
“I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness.”
— John 8:12
The light is not an idea.
It is a person: Christ.
Where He is,
there it becomes light —
even if the surroundings remain dark.
🌿 Hope That Sustains
It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the darkness.
By news, developments, and uncertainties.
But God’s Word invites us
not to focus on the darkness,
but on the light.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“The darker the night, the brighter the light of truth shines for those who trust in God.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 602)
Hope is not the absence of darkness,
but the trust
that the light is stronger.
🕊️ A Light in One’s Own Life
God does not only call us to see the light,
but to pass it on.
“You are the light of the world.”
— Matthew 5:14
This often happens not loudly or visibly,
but quietly:
in a word of encouragement,
in an act of patience,
in a life shaped by Christ.
🌄 Living in the Light
Living in the light means:
being honest,
standing openly before God,
allowing oneself to be transformed by Him.
It also means
not remaining in fear,
but walking in trust.
For the light leads —
step by step.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You that Your light is stronger than any darkness.
When I become uncertain,
help me to fix my eyes on You.
Fill my heart with Your light
and make me a light for others.
Let me live in Your truth
and carry Your hope to others.
Amen.
