π Central Bible Text of the Day
βFor you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed β¦ but with the precious blood of Christ.β
β 1 Peter 1:18β19
π Devotional of the Day
The redemption given to us at the cross is freeβbut it is not cheap. For us, it is a gift, but for Christ it came at an immeasurable cost. When we look at the cross, we see not only forgiveness, but also what that forgiveness cost.
Jesus did not give something of HimselfβHe gave Himself. He held nothing back. His life, His dignity, His fellowship with the Fatherβeverything was given so that we might live. The cross shows us how seriously God takes sin and how great His love truly is.
Often there is a danger that we begin to take grace for granted. We become used to the words of forgiveness and redemption without truly sensing what they mean. But the cross calls us back to a deeper understanding: our salvation is not a small act, but the result of an infinite sacrifice.
β¨ The Value of Redemption
When something has a high price, it reveals its value. The price of our redemption shows how valuable we are in Godβs eyes. We are not saved by chance, but intentionally and purposefully.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe price paid for our redemption reveals the infinite value of the human soul.β
(Christβs Object Lessons, p. 196)
This truth changes the way we see ourselves and others. Every person is precious because Christ died for them.
πΏ Grace That Does Not Leave Us Indifferent
Godβs grace does not invite us to a superficial life, but to a transformed life. Whoever understands what the cross has cost will not remain indifferent.
Grace does not mean that sin does not matter, but that it can be forgiven. Yet this very forgiveness leads us to long for a life that honors God.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe love of Christ moves the heart to turn away from sin and begin a new life.β
(Steps to Christ, p. 60)
ποΈ Living in Awareness of the Price
The cross calls us to a conscious lifeβnot out of guilt, but out of gratitude. We no longer live for ourselves, but for the One who gave everything for us.
This awareness transforms our decisions, our priorities, and how we treat others. It gives our lives depth and direction.
π Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for the immeasurable price that Jesus paid for my redemption.
Keep me from taking Your grace for granted.
Help me to live in gratitude
and to entrust my life to You consciously.
Let the cross change my heart
and shape my life.
Amen.
