“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household?”

🌅 Devotional for the Day
Jesus describes waiting for His return
not as passive waiting,
but as a responsible way of living.
The faithful servant is not praised
for having waited —
but because he served faithfully.
“Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find doing so.”
— Matthew 24:46
Waiting in the biblical sense means:
living actively, consciously, and responsibly.
✨ Faithfulness in the Hidden Things
The servant is not tested before a great crowd,
but in everyday life.
His task is simple —
yet decisive.
God does not only see great deeds,
but above all faithfulness in small things.
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.”
— Luke 16:10
Ellen G. White wrote:
“God tests the faithfulness of His servants in daily life, not only in extraordinary moments.”

🌿 Responsibility as a Gift
God entrusts us with responsibilities:
- Time
- Abilities
- Relationships
- Opportunities to serve
This responsibility is not a burden,
but an expression of His trust.
🕊️ The Danger of Negligence
Jesus also warns about another servant,
who thinks:
“My master is delaying his coming.”
This attitude leads to indifference.
When expectation fades,
life also changes.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“When people lose sight of the coming of Christ, they also lose the seriousness of their faith.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 378)
🌄 Living in Awareness of His Nearness
The faithful servant lives in such a way,
as if the Lord could come at any moment.
Not out of fear,
but out of love and devotion.
This attitude gives depth and meaning to everyday life.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for entrusting me with responsibilities.
Help me to be faithful in small things
and to live consciously in Your calling.
Keep me from indifference
and keep my hope alive.
Let me live in such a way,
that I am ready when You come.
Amen.
