The temple is to be built. David knows that he will no longer be able to carry out this great work himself. This task will be taken on by his son Solomon. But David does not want to remain inactive. He wants to prepare everything so that his son can continue it well later on. He is not thinking only of himself, but of the future and how God can be honored.
🎁 David Begins to Give
David does not wait for others to begin. He takes the lead himself. From his own possessions he gives gold, silver, and many valuable things. He holds nothing back. You can tell that this really matters to him. He does not give out of obligation, but from an open and grateful heart.
💛 The People Join In
When the people see what David is doing, they are moved. They recognize how important this is to him. And then something beautiful happens: they begin to give as well. No one forces them. No one demands it. Each person decides freely. And that is exactly why the joy is so great. The people do not give reluctantly, but gladly.
😊 A Special Atmosphere
A very special atmosphere develops. People bring their offerings, talk with one another, and rejoice. It is not a farewell filled with sadness, but a living moment full of community and joy. You can sense that something good is happening.
🙏 David Turns His Eyes to God
Then David stands before the people and begins to pray. He does not first look at what the people have given. Instead, he turns his focus to God. He recognizes that everything they were able to give actually comes from God. This thought is very important: we can only give what we have first received.
🌍 Everything Belongs to God
David understands that God is the source of everything. Wealth, strength, life – everything comes from Him. Therefore, everything belongs to Him. This realization makes David humble. He is not proud of what has been collected, but grateful for what God has made possible.

In his prayer, David thinks especially of his son. He asks God to help Solomon, to give him a good heart, and to guide him on the right path. It is a very personal moment. You can tell that David is speaking as a father and desires that his son be well guided.
