🤫 A Secret Plan
For six years the child remains hidden in the temple. Only a few people know about his existence. During that time, Athaliah rules and keeps power firmly in her hands.
But in the background, one man prepares everything: the priest Jehoiada. He knows that the time will come to do what is right.
He begins to make a secret plan.
🤝 Trust and Preparation
Jehoiada speaks with important men in the land. He gathers the leaders and soldiers together and entrusts them with the secret: the true king is alive.
Together they plan carefully. They think through exactly who should stand where and when. Everything must be well prepared so that nothing goes wrong.
It is a brave plan — but also a dangerous one.
🏛️ The Right Moment
Then the special day comes. The people gather in the temple. Many still do not know what is about to happen.
The soldiers take their places. Everything is ready.
Then the child is brought forward. It is Joash, the rightful king.
Jehoiada places the crown on his head and gives him God’s law. This makes it clear: this king is to live according to God’s ways.
Everyone shouts loudly: “Long live the king!”
⚠️ A Final Confrontation
When Athaliah hears the noise, she comes to the temple. She sees what has happened and immediately understands: her time is over.
She cries out loudly, but no one follows her. Jehoiada’s plan succeeds.
Athaliah is led out of the temple, and her rule comes to an end.
🌿 A New Beginning
After this moment, something new begins. Jehoiada makes a covenant with the people: they want to belong to God again and follow Him.
The people destroy the places where false gods were worshiped. They return to what is right.
The temple is also put back in order. The priests take up their duties again.
Joy fills the city. After a dark time, light returns.
🌅 Hope Becomes Visible
This chapter shows how a small hope can become something great. A hidden child becomes king. A secret plan leads to a new beginning.
And it also shows that God does not forget His promises — even if it sometimes takes a long time.
