π± GROWING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
π Lesson 6 : Prayer Warriors
π 6.4 Moses, Godly Leader
Leadership from constant fellowship with God
π 1. Introduction β A crucial foundation
What makes a person a true spiritual leader?
Is it knowledge, ability, or influence?
Moses shows us something different:
π The key to his life was his relationship with God.
It was not his position that made him greatβbut his connection with God.
π 2. The biblical foundation β Moses and his relationship with God
Unlike Enoch, we have many concrete insights into Mosesβ relationship with God.
We see conversations, questions, doubts, requestsβa living, genuine relationship.
- Exodus 33:15β23 shows clearly:
Moses does not want to go forward without Godβs presence.
π βIf Your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.β
This shows:
For Moses, Godβs presence was more important than success or progress.
π 3. Connection to today
Today, leadership is often associated with strength, self-confidence, and control.
But spiritual leadership works differently.
Many try to:
- solve problems on their own
- make decisions independently
- carry responsibility alone
Moses shows the opposite:
π He constantly sought Godβs guidance.
π‘ 4. Central message of the lesson
π True spiritual strength comes from dependence on Godβnot from independence.
A living relationship with God is the foundation for every responsible action.
βοΈ 5. Theological focus
At the center of this lesson is the importance of personal communion with God as the foundation of spiritual leadership and intercession.
Moses is an example that a relationship with God is not theoretical, but lived out in practice. His conversations with God show extraordinary closeness. He speaks to God openly, honestly, and directly, while at the same time recognizing His holiness and authority.
A key aspect is the role of intercession. Moses repeatedly stands in for othersβnot only for the people, but also for individuals. He takes responsibility and places himself between God and the people.
Especially striking is his attitude toward Aaron and Miriam. Both act wrongly and deserve consequences. Yet Moses does not respond with human justice, but with grace. He prays for them, even though he himself is affected.
This reveals a deep theological truth:
π True closeness to God changes how we treat others.
Those who know God act not only justly, but also mercifully.
Another important point is dependence. Moses does not make important decisions without God. His leadership is not based on his own wisdom, but on divine guidance.
π Theologically essential:
Spiritual authority does not arise from position or ability, but from a living relationship with God, expressed through dependence and intercession.
π 6. Bible texts explained
Exodus 33:15β23 shows the depth of the relationship between Moses and God.
Moses does not ask only for guidance, but for Godβs very presence. He understands that without God, everything else is meaningless.
His request to see Godβs glory shows a deep longing for greater knowledge and closeness.
In Exodus 32 and Deuteronomy 9, we see Mosesβ intercession for Aaron after the golden calf. Aaron had failed greatly, and Godβs judgment was justified. Yet Moses steps in and asks for mercy.
In Numbers 12:13, we see his intercession for Miriam. Remarkably, she had personally attacked himβyet he immediately prays for her healing.
These reactions show:
- no bitterness
- no revenge
- but forgiveness and intercession
Matthew 5:44 teaches exactly this attitude:
love your enemies and pray for them.
Colossians 3:13 emphasizes forgivenessβas God has forgiven us.
π In summary:
Mosesβ life shows that a genuine relationship with God always affects how we treat othersβespecially in situations of conflict and hurt.
π§ 7. Application in daily life
This lesson becomes practical through clear steps:
- intentionally include God in decisions
- regularly seek guidance in prayer
- pray for othersβeven in difficult relationships
- choose to forgive intentionally
- do not act in your own strength
β 8. Reflection question
How do I respond when others hurt meβwith withdrawal, justice, or intercession?
π 9. Final thought
Moses was not perfect.
But he remained connected with God.
And that is what made him a true leader.
Because:
π Those who live with God can also stand before God on behalf of others.
