๐Ÿ‘‘ The King is coming soon โ€“ Hope beyond the end

๐Ÿ“… March 18 โ€“ The Dream of the Statue: World Empires and Godโ€™s Eternal Kingdom

Monthly theme: Daniel: The God who directs history โ€“ Faithfulness in the fire of testing
Yearly theme 2026: โ€œThe King is coming soon โ€“ Hope beyond the endโ€

๐Ÿ“– Key Bible text of the day

โ€œBut the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed;
nor shall its kingdom be left to another people.
It shall crush and bring to an end all these kingdoms,
and it shall stand forever.โ€

โ€” Daniel 2:44

๐ŸŒ… Devotional of the day

King Nebuchadnezzar saw in a dream a great statue โ€”
magnificent, impressive, yet fragile.

Gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay represented successive world empires.
They appeared powerful,
yet none of them endured.

In the end, a stone,
โ€œnot cut by human hands,โ€
struck the statue and destroyed it.

This stone grew into a mountain
that filled the whole earth.

The message is clear:
Human power is temporary โ€”
Godโ€™s kingdom remains.

โœจ History in Godโ€™s hands

Daniel not only explained the dream to the king,
but showed that God knows the future.

โ€œHe changes times and seasons;
he removes kings and sets up kings.โ€

โ€” Daniel 2:21

Kingdoms rise and fall.
But nothing happens outside of Godโ€™s knowledge.

Ellen G. White wrote:
โ€œIn the annals of human history, the growth of nations seems to depend on the will of man, but the Word of God shows that God stands above all.โ€
(Prophets and Kings, p. 535)

๐ŸŒฟ The fragility of human systems

The statue looked strong,
but its feet were made of iron and clay โ€” an unstable mixture.

In this way, God shows
that human kingdoms, despite outward strength, are inwardly fragile.

Therefore, our hope must not rest on political or human systems.

โ€œDo not put your trust in princes โ€ฆ in whom there is no help.โ€
โ€” Psalm 146:3

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The stone without human hands

The stone symbolizes Christ and His coming kingdom.

It is not established by human power,
but by divine intervention.

The return of Jesus is the climax of this prophecy.

Ellen G. White wrote:
โ€œThe stone that smites the image represents the kingdom of Christ, which will replace all earthly powers.โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 635)

๐ŸŒ„ Living with an eternal perspective

If Godโ€™s kingdom is eternal,
it changes how we view today.

We do not invest our lives only in what is temporary,
but in the kingdom that remains.

Faithfulness, love, and faith have eternal value.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Dear Father in heaven,
thank You that You guide history
and that Your kingdom stands forever.

Help me not to place my trust in human security,
but in Your unchanging kingdom.

Let me live today as a citizen of heaven,
full of hope in Your coming kingdom.

Amen.
