πŸ•ŠοΈ May 10 – Sanctification: A Life of Following Christ

Monthly Theme: The Cross and the Second Coming – The Victory of Love
Yearly Theme 2026: β€œThe King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”

πŸ“– Central Bible Verse of the Day

β€œFor this is the will of God, your sanctification.”
β€” 1 Thessalonians 4:3

πŸŒ… Daily Devotional

Salvation begins with forgiveness, but it does not stop there. God not only wants to cleanse our past, but also to renew our lives. This journey is described in the Bible as sanctification.

Sanctification does not mean being perfect, but allowing God to transform us. It is a process in which we learn step by step to live according to His will. It is not about outward perfection, but about an inner orientation of the heart.

This journey begins at the cross, but it continues into everyday life. Decisions, thoughts, habits β€” all of these are touched and shaped by God’s Spirit. Therefore, sanctification is not a one-time event, but a lifelong journey.

✨ A Work of God in Human Beings

Sanctification is not primarily human effort, but God’s work within us. We can open ourselves to Him, but we cannot transform ourselves.

Ellen G. White wrote:
β€œSanctification is the work of a lifetime, not of a moment.”
(The Acts of the Apostles, p. 560)

This truth removes the pressure of having to be perfect immediately and invites us to let God work in us daily.

🌿 Daily Decisions

Although sanctification is God’s work, we are not passive. Every day we make decisions: what we open ourselves to, what we listen to, and which path we choose.

Over time, these small decisions shape our character. They show whether we allow God’s Spirit to guide us or whether we follow our own ways.

Ellen G. White wrote:
β€œCharacter is formed through repeated decisions.”
(Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 356)

πŸ•ŠοΈ Preparation for Eternity

Sanctification has a purpose. God desires to restore the image of Christ within us. This transformation prepares us for fellowship with Him β€” now and for eternity.

The second coming of Jesus is not only hope, but also an invitation to allow Him to shape us. He completes what He has begun.

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for wanting to work within me.

Help me to entrust myself to You daily
and to remain open to Your transforming work.

Teach me to walk in Your ways
and to make decisions according to Your will.

Shape my character
and prepare me for Your coming.

Amen.

πŸ’ Thought for the Day

Sanctification is a daily walk with God β€” step by step closer to His presence.

  1. Read 1 Thessalonians 4:1–7.
What does sanctification practically mean for your life?
  2. Pray: β€œLord, work in me what pleases You.”
