π March 20 β A King Is Converted: Godβs Patience with Nebuchadnezzar
Monthly theme: Daniel: The God who guides history β faithfulness in the fire of testing
Year theme 2026: βThe King Is Coming Soon β hope beyond the endβ
π Central Bible Text of the Day
βNow I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven;
for all His works are truth, and His ways justice.β
β Daniel 4:34
π Devotional Thought of the Day
Nebuchadnezzar was a powerful ruler,
accustomed to success and recognition.
But Godβs goal was not only to limit his powerβ
it was to win his heart.
Through dreams, warnings, and personal experiences,
God spoke to him again and again.
But pride closed his heart.
βIs not this great Babylon, which I have built?β
β Daniel 4:27
At that moment, God intervened.
The king lost his sanity
and lived like an animal in the field.
Not as punishment in anger,
but as a path to healing.
β¨ Godβs patience is greater than our pride
God could have judged Nebuchadnezzar immediately.
Instead, He led him step by step.
This reveals Godβs character:
βThe Lord is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish.β
β 2 Peter 3:9
Ellen G. White wrote:
βGod did not seek to destroy Nebuchadnezzar, but to lead him through humility to understanding.β
(Prophets and Kings, p. 521)
Godβs correction is often an expression of His love.
πΏ The Turning Point
The change came when Nebuchadnezzar lifted his eyes.
βI lifted my eyes to heaven.β
β Daniel 4:31
Humility begins
when we no longer see ourselves as the center.
God could act
when the king recognized his dependence.
ποΈ Hope for Every Person
Nebuchadnezzarβs story shows:
no one is beyond Godβs reach.
Even a pagan king could recognize God
and praise Him.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe story of Nebuchadnezzar is a testimony that God can reach both the highest and the lowest.β
(Prophets and Kings, p. 522)
π Humility as Preparation for Godβs Kingdom
In Godβs kingdom, there is no place for pride.
Eternity belongs to those
who have learned to give glory to God.
When we humble ourselves,
our hearts open to Godβs guidance.
π Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for Your patience and Your love.
Keep me from pride
and teach me to give You the glory.
When You correct me,
help me to recognize Your love in it.
Turn my eyes again and again toward You,
the King of heaven.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
βGodβs patience does not pursue people to condemn them, but to save them.β
β Ellen G. White, Prophets and Kings
