π¦ Introduction
This lesson highlights the central message of the book of Joshua: God keeps what He promises β completely and reliably. The fulfillment of His promises to Israel is a visible sign of His covenant faithfulness. But this faithfulness also calls for a response: obedience, love, and a conscious commitment to God. Joshuaβs urgent warnings show that the greatest battle is not external, but spiritual β a battle of loyalty to God. Godβs anger is not arbitrary, but an expression of His holiness in the face of sin. Those who cling to God in love will continue to experience His blessing in the future.

βͺ Lesson 12 : God Is Faithful!
π 12.1 All Came to Pass
β¨ Godβs promises are not vague β they are completely fulfilled
π¦ Introduction
Is there still anything today that we can truly rely on? In a world where contracts are broken, promises forgotten, and trust disappointed, Godβs faithfulness is like an anchor in a stormy sea. The history of Israel, especially in the book of Joshua, bears witness to one truth: God stands by His word. This reliability concerns not only the past, but also our present and our future in Christ. This lesson invites us to understand Godβs faithfulness more deeply and to embrace it personally.

π The Theological Climax of the Book of Joshua (Joshua 21:43β45)
Joshua 21:43β45 is not merely a historical summary, but a theological climax. Three central actions of God stand out:
1οΈβ£ God gives the land
βSo the Lord gave Israel all the land β¦β
The possession of the promised land was the core element of the covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Here we see the fulfillment of that promise in a concrete act of God.
2οΈβ£ God gives rest
βAnd the Lord gave them rest all around β¦β
This βrestβ is more than military peace β it is a theological state of arrival, security within Godβs covenant (see Hebrews 4).
3οΈβ£ God fulfills His word completely
βNot one word failed β¦ all came to pass.β
The Hebrew word kol (βallβ) is used six times in three verses β a rhetorical device emphasizing the totality and reliability of Godβs actions. Godβs word is effective and never returns empty (see Isaiah 55:11).
ποΈ The Structure of the Book of Joshua in Brief
β’ Chapters 1β12: The conquest of the land β military victories under Godβs guidance
β’ Chapters 13β21: The distribution of the land β precise obedience to divine instructions
β’ Joshua 21:43β45: Summary and theological interpretation β everything came from God, not from Israelβs merit
𧱠Godβs Covenant Faithfulness: A Foundation for Salvation
Godβs faithfulness in the Old Testament is the foundation of the gospel in the New Testament. Ephesians 2:8β9 reminds us that our salvation does not come from works, but is a gift from God. The parallel is clear: just as Israel received the land by grace, we too receive eternal life by grace β as the fulfillment of Godβs promise.
π God Remains Faithful β Even When We Are Not (2 Timothy 2:11β13)
This passage is understood as a βfaithful saying,β possibly an early Christian hymn.
β’ βIf we died with Him β¦β β a reference to baptism and unity with Christ
β’ βIf we deny Him β¦β β a serious warning
β’ βIf we are unfaithful, He remains faithfulβ β a profound word of grace
Godβs faithfulness does not depend on our performance, but on His character.

π£οΈ Answers to the Questions
β Question 1: What picture of God do Joshua 21:43β45 paint? How do these words also apply to our salvation (2 Timothy 2:11β13)?
Answer:
Joshua 21:43β45 describes God as the One who completely fulfills His promises. He has:
β’ given the entire land
β’ granted rest
β’ subdued all enemies
β’ kept every single one of His good words
These verses show that Godβs covenant is not based on hope, but on fulfilled reality. The repeated use of the word βallβ emphasizes that nothing was forgotten β God is not a man who breaks His word.
In the New Testament, Paul continues this thought. In 2 Timothy 2:11β13 we see:
β’ our unity with Christ (dying with Him, suffering with Him, reigning with Him)
β’ a reminder of our responsibility (denial has consequences)
β’ and finally: even when we fail, God remains faithful to His nature
Just as Israel received the land β not through its own strength, but because God promised it β we also receive salvation not through works, but through His faithfulness and grace.
β Question 2: How does Godβs faithfulness give us confidence that none of His future promises will remain unfulfilled? (1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Corinthians 1:18β20)
Answer:
Godβs faithfulness is not an abstract idea, but is experienced concretely in everyday life and in His promises for the future.
β’ In 1 Corinthians 10:13, we are assured that God does not leave us alone in temptation. Every trial is limited by His care, and He provides a way out.
β’ In 2 Corinthians 1:18β20, we read that all of Godβs promises find their βYesβ in Jesus. God does not say βYesβ today and βNoβ tomorrow. In Christ, we have the guarantee that everything God promises will be fulfilled.
Godβs faithfulness strengthens our confidence that:
β’ no biblical promise is empty
β’ none of our prayers are ignored
β’ no suffering is meaningless
β’ and no future is uncertain when we are in Christ
………….. πΊοΈ …………..
β¨ Spiritual Principles
β’ God promises nothing that He does not also keep
β’ Our salvation is part of His eternal plan β not the result of our effort
β’ Godβs faithfulness is stronger than our doubts
β’ Faith is rooted in Godβs character, not in our feelings
………….. πΊοΈ …………..
π οΈ Application in Daily Life
β’ When you feel uncertain, remember: God has given βeverythingβ β not βa littleβ
β’ When you are in a crisis, remember: He gives you rest
β’ When you have failed, remember: His faithfulness remains
β’ When you are waiting for an answer to prayer, remember: βNot one word failedβ
………….. πΊοΈ …………..
π Thought of the Day
βGodβs faithfulness is not a promise of an easy life, but the assurance that we are never abandoned β in victory and in weakness.β

βUnder the Eucalyptus Treeβ
A story about loss, promises, and Godβs unshakable faithfulness
π Setting:
The outback of Western Australia, present day (2024β2027)
A small town near Kalgoorlie, a remote Adventist community, and the vast, silent land surrounding it.
π Chapter 1 β The Land of Red Earth
Elijah Fraser, a 34-year-old aircraft mechanic, lives with his wife Abigail and their daughter Hannah on a small property near Kalgoorlie. Elijah is a simple, deeply faithful man who often preaches in the small Adventist congregation. He loves the Bible, nature β and his God.
But life in the outback is harsh. In 2024, the mine where he works lays off hundreds of employees. Abigail is diagnosed with aggressive cancer. Elijah begins to struggle β with God, with fate, and with himself.
βLord, You said You are faithful. But where are You now?β he whispers one night under the old eucalyptus tree behind the house.

π Chapter 2 β The Promise Beneath the Dust
Abigailβs condition worsens quickly. Elijah asks the church to pray. Missionaries from Perth come to anoint her. But nothing seems to help. Elijah begins studying the book of Joshua. When he reaches Joshua 21:43β45, he stops:
βNot one word failed of all the good words the Lord had spoken; all came to pass.β
These words burn into his heart. But the faith in his mind wrestles with the fear in his heart.

π Chapter 3 β The Last Sabbath
Abigail insists on celebrating the Sabbath, even when she can barely speak. The family gathers on the veranda. Hannah reads 2 Timothy 2:11β13 aloud:
βIf we are unfaithful, He remains faithful.β
Abigail takes Elijahβs hand. βHe will not leave us. Even if you donβt feel it right now.β
Two days later, she passes away peacefully.

π Chapter 4 β The Desert of Silence
After the funeral, Elijah falls silent. For weeks. His ten-year-old daughter Hannah does not understand why her father no longer speaks. His sermons are missing at church. People pray. But Elijah feels betrayed by God. The Bible remains unopened. His hands build, repair, and work β but his heart is dry.
He avoids the eucalyptus tree. Too many memories.

π Chapter 6 β Meeting the βNot Forgottenβ
On one of his trips, Elijah meets a young Aboriginal boy named Djalu, who suffers from leukemia. Djalu has no family left. Elijah brings him to treatment and takes care of him. One day Djalu asks:
βWhy are you kind to me? Iβm nobody.β
For the first time in months, Elijah answers with more than a whisper:
βYou are a promise. And God never forgets His promises.β
It is the first sentence Elijah speaks with conviction β and it changes everything.

π Chapter 7 β The Tree Blooms Again
Back on the farm, the old eucalyptus tree still stands. Elijah sits beneath it with Hannah. She reads from 2 Corinthians 1:20:
βFor all the promises of God find their Yes in Him.β
Elijah looks at her and says:
βI thought God had forgotten His word. But I didnβt understand that His faithfulness often doesnβt mean everything turns out well β it means we are not alone in it.β
He begins preaching again β first hesitantly, then with a burning heart. His first new sermon is titled: βAll Came to Pass.β

π Chapter 8 β The New Path
Elijah now works full-time for OutbackCare. Together with Hannah, he travels across the vast land, bringing medicine, prayer, and hope. On the back of his truck, painted in white letters, are the words:
βHe remains faithful β even when we are not.β
(2 Timothy 2:13)
Everywhere he goes, he tells his story β of doubt, of death, and of the God who does not abandon us β not even under a eucalyptus tree in the middle of the outback.
