π April 7 β Love Grows Cold: When Hearts Become Cold
Monthly Theme: The Signs of the Times β Watch and Pray
Yearly Theme 2026: βThe King is Coming Soon β Hope Beyond the Endβ
π Central Bible Text of the Day
βAnd because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.β
β Matthew 24:12
π Devotional of the Day
Jesus describes a quiet but dangerous sign of the end times:
not only outward chaos β
but an inner cooling of love.
The world can be loud and restless,
but the greatest problem begins in the heart.
When indifference grows,
when selfishness becomes stronger,
when compassion fades β
then love grows cold.
β¨ Love as the Source of Life
Love is not just a feeling.
It is the expression of a connection with God.
βGod is love.β
β 1 John 4:8
When the connection to God weakens,
love also fades.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βWhere love for God diminishes, the heart grows cold and faith becomes weak.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 378)
πΏ The Danger of Becoming Accustomed
In a world full of news and problems
the heart can become numb.
What once moved us,
may leave us indifferent today.
But God calls us to a watchful and living heart.
βAbove all else, guard your heart.β
β Proverbs 4:23
ποΈ Keeping Love Alive in Difficult Times
How does love remain alive?
- through daily fellowship with God
- through conscious decisions toward kindness
- through forgiveness and patience
Love does not grow automatically β
it is cultivated.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe love of Christ in the heart preserves a person from spiritual coldness.β
(Maranatha, p. 167)
π A Light in a World Growing Colder
Especially when the love of many grows cold,
Godβs people should shine all the more brightly.
A kind word,
a patient response,
a compassionate heart β
these are signs of heaven in this world.
π Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
keep my heart from becoming cold and indifferent.
Fill me with Your love
and teach me to see others as You see them.
Help me remain loving in difficult situations
and to share Your warmth.
Let my life be an expression of Your love.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
βWhen love grows cold, closeness to Christ is the only source of new warmth.β
β Ellen G. White
