๐Ÿ‘‘ The King is coming soon โ€“ Hope beyond the end

๐Ÿ™ March 11 โ€“ Danielโ€™s Intercession: When Prayer Moves History

Monthly Theme: Daniel: The God Who Directs History โ€“ Faithfulness in the Fire of Testing
Year Theme 2026: โ€œSoon the King Is Coming โ€“ Hope Beyond the Endโ€

๐Ÿ“– Central Bible Verse of the Day

โ€œWe do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness,
but because of your great mercy.โ€

โ€” Daniel 9:18

๐ŸŒ… Devotion of the Day

Daniel was a prophet, a statesman, and a faithful servant of God โ€”
but in Daniel 9 we see him above all as a man of prayer.

He studied the writings of Jeremiah and realized
that the time of captivity was almost over.
But instead of simply waiting for the promise to be fulfilled,
he went into prayer.

He not only confessed the sins of the people,
but included himself:

โ€œWe have sinned and done wrong.โ€
โ€” Daniel 9:5

That is true intercession โ€”
not distance, but identification.

โœจ Prayer as Part of Godโ€™s Plan

God had already promised
to bring His people back.
So why did Daniel pray so earnestly?

Because prayer does not replace Godโ€™s plan,
it is part of it.

โ€œAsk, and it will be given to you.โ€
โ€” Matthew 7:7

Daniel understood:
Promises invite us to pray.

Ellen G. White wrote:
โ€œGod works through the prayers of His people to accomplish His purposes.โ€
(Prophets and Kings, p. 554)

๐ŸŒฟ Humility and Mercy

Daniel did not appeal to his own merit.

His prayer rested entirely on Godโ€™s grace.

โ€œNot because of our righteousness,
but because of your great mercy.โ€

This attitude opened heaven.
While Daniel was still praying,
the answer came through the angel Gabriel.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ When Prayer Moves History

Danielโ€™s prayer was personal โ€”
but its impact was prophetic and world-shaping.

This shows:
Quiet prayer can have greater impact
than visible power.

Ellen G. White wrote:
โ€œThe prayers of faithful souls are of greater value in heaven than wealth or human power.โ€
(Maranatha, p. 44)

๐ŸŒ„ A Call to Us Today

We too live in a decisive time in world history.
Like Daniel, we are invited
not only to be observers of prophecy,
but people of prayer.

Prayer first changes our hearts โ€”
and through that, our surroundings.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Dear Father in heaven,
thank You for the example of Daniel, who remained faithful in prayer.

Teach me humility and genuine trust in Your mercy.

Help me not only to know Your promises,
but to claim them in prayer.

Use even my small prayers
to advance Your work.

Amen.

๐Ÿ’ญ Thought for the Day

โ€œPrayer is the key that opens the storehouses of heaven.โ€
โ€” Ellen G. White

๐Ÿ’ก Personal Application

  1. Read Daniel 9:1โ€“19.
What attitude do you recognize in Danielโ€™s prayer?

  2. Pray: โ€œLord, teach me intercession with a humble heart.โ€

  3. Practical: Today intentionally pray for someone else and bless them in prayer.

๐ŸŒบ Closing Verse

โ€œThe prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.โ€
โ€” James 5:16
