πŸ‘‘ The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End

πŸ“… January 12 – Eternal Life

Monthly theme: The Blessed Hope – Living in Expectation
Year theme 2026: β€œThe King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”

πŸ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

β€œThis is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”
β€” John 17:3

πŸŒ… Devotional Thought for the Day

When Jesus speaks about eternal life,
He does not mean only endless existence,
but a quality of life –
a life in unbroken fellowship with God.

Eternal life does not begin only after the Second Coming;
it begins now,
in knowing Christ and living in relationship with Him.

β€œWhoever believes in the Son has eternal life.”
β€” John 3:36

The word has is written in the present tense.
This means: eternal life is not a distant possession,
but a present experience of grace.

Ellen G. White wrote:

β€œEternal life begins the moment a person accepts Christ.
From that moment, they live in fellowship with God,
and this connection is not broken by death.”
(The Desire of Ages, p. 330)

✨ The Source of Life

All life comes from God.
He is the origin, the breath, the source of everything that exists.
Without Him there is no true life – only movement without meaning.

β€œFor in Him we live and move and have our being.”
β€” Acts 17:28

When a person separates from God,
they separate from life itself.
That is why Christ came – to restore the connection,
so that the stream of divine life may flow freely into our hearts again.

Ellen White wrote:

β€œThe life of Christ, dwelling within us,
is the source of spiritual renewal.
Whoever carries Christ within has eternal life already growing within.”
(Steps to Christ, p. 67)

Eternal life, then, is not a gift we receive someday,
but a seed God is already planting in us today.

🌿 Eternal Life – Fellowship Without End

β€œI give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;
no one will snatch them out of My hand.”
β€” John 10:28

Eternal life means security in Christ.
No loss, no power, no death can tear the believer from His hand.
This promise carries us through life and through death.

Ellen White wrote:

β€œDeath cannot separate the soul from Christ.
They sleep in Him, and when He calls, they rise to immortal life.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 550)

Therefore, for the believer, death is not an end,
but a pause in eternal life,
which will blossom in full glory at the return of Jesus.

πŸ•ŠοΈ Eternity – The Gift of Love

β€œFor God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish
but have eternal life.”
β€” John 3:16

Eternal life is the expression of God’s infinite love.
He wants no one to be lost.
That is why it is not only a gift,
but also an invitation that must be accepted.

Ellen White said:

β€œThe greatest miracle of redemption is not that God has the power
to give us eternal life,
but that He loves us enough to want to give it.”
(Maranatha, p. 302)

πŸ™ Prayer

Heavenly Father,
thank You for giving us life –
not only breath, but eternal life in Your Son.

Help me today to live in the certainty
that I am Your child and that my life rests safely in Your hand.

Teach me to experience eternal life already now –
in love, in faith, and in closeness to You.

Keep me until the day
when the life You have begun in me
will be completed forever.

Amen.

πŸ’ Thought for the Day

β€œEternal life means knowing Christ –
not only with the mind, but with the heart.
Whoever knows Him already possesses the life of heaven here on earth.”
β€” Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 331

πŸ’‘ Personal Application

Read John 17.
Mark what Jesus says about eternal life.

Pray: β€œLord, teach me to live today in the reality of eternal life.”

Practically:
Do something today that flows from the awareness
that you are a child of eternity –
forgive, love, or comfort someone in the name of Jesus.

🌺 Closing Verse

β€œFor the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
β€” Romans 6:23
