π The King is coming soon β Hope beyond the end
π January 25 β The Mark of the Beast
Monthly theme: The Blessed Hope β Living in Expectation
Year theme 2026: βSoon the King Is Coming β Hope Beyond the Endβ
π Central Bible Text of the Day
βAnd it causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave,
to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark
or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.β
β Revelation 13:16β17
π Devotional of the Day
The mark of the beast is one of the most solemn themes in Revelation.
It symbolizes human presumption, false worship,
and the attempt to take Godβs place.
It is the counterpart to the seal of God:
the sign of human authority instead of divine truth.
While the seal of God is carried in the foreheadβin thinking, in faithβ
the mark can appear on the forehead or on the hand:
in the mind (conviction) or in actions (conformity).
βIf anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark β¦
he himself shall also drink of the wrath of God.β
β Revelation 14:9β10
The mark therefore stands for a conscious rejection of Godβs authority
and the acceptance of human commands in place of Godβs commands.
β¨ The Origin of False Worship
βHe shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
shall persecute the saints of the Most High,
and shall intend to change times and law.β
β Daniel 7:25
Prophecy describes a power
that will attempt to change Godβs lawβ
especially the commandment that testifies to Godβs authority as Creator: the Sabbath.
The establishment of Sunday as a holy day
places human authority above divine revelation.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe mark of the beast is the sign of the authority
to place human laws in the place of the divine law.
Those who accept the false Sabbath
thereby declare their allegiance to a human authority
instead of to God.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 449)
The mark of the beast is therefore not a physical mark,
but a spiritual decision:
Whom do I obeyβGod or people?
πΏ Two Signs β Two Loyalties
βHere is the patience of the saints;
here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.β
β Revelation 14:12
At the end of time the whole world will be divided into two groups:
Those who worship God as Creator and bear His seal.
And those who place human authority above Godβs word
and accept the mark.
This is not merely an outward conflict,
but a test of the heartβ
a question of faithfulness in worship.
Ellen White wrote:
βWhen the test comes on the Sabbath question,
the line of distinction will be clearly drawn.
Then each will decide
whether to obey God or men.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 605)
ποΈ The Time of Decision
Revelation shows
that the mark will be enforced before Christβs return.
Economic pressure, social conformity, and persecution
will test the faithful.
βNo one may buy or sell
except one who has the mark.β
β Revelation 13:17
But God leaves no one alone.
He prepares His children
to stand firm, even when faith is tested.
Ellen White wrote:
βGod will give power to His people
not to yield to the pressure.
If they refuse to obey the laws of men,
they will experience the protection of heaven.β
(Maranatha, p. 198)
π Victory Over the Mark
βAnd I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire,
and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image
and over the number of his name,
standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.β
β Revelation 15:2
The faithful will overcomeβ
not by their own strength,
but by faith in the Lamb.
They will stand upright
because they have learned to trust God in everyday life.
Ellen White wrote:
βThose who are faithful in the smaller trials now
will stand in the great hour of conflict.
Their trust in God will be unshakable.β
(Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 214)
The mark will divide a world,
but the love of Christ will unite His children.
π Prayer
Lord, my Creator and Redeemer,
hold me firmly in the truth
when the world turns away from the light.
Strengthen my faith
so that I would rather obey You than people.
Teach me to be faithful now in the small things,
so that I can stand firm in the great hour.
Keep me from the mark of error
and seal me with Your Spirit of truth.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
βThe mark of the beast will be brought in through coercion and deception,
but the sealing of God takes place through love and conviction.β
β Ellen G. White, Maranatha, p. 193
π‘ Personal Application
Read Revelation 13 and 14.
Ask God for clear understanding about worship and faithfulness.
Pray: βLord, help me stay rooted in Your word.β
Practical step:
Practice small daily choices of faithfulnessβ
truthfulness, Sabbath keeping, love instead of conformity.
πΊ Closing Verse
βBe faithful until death,
and I will give you the crown of life.β
β Revelation 2:10
