๐Ÿ“… 18 January โ€“ The Glory of God

Monthly theme: The Blessed Hope โ€“ Living in Expectation
Year theme 2026: โ€œSoon the King Is Coming โ€“ Hope Beyond the Endโ€

๐Ÿ“– Central Bible Text for the Day

โ€œFor the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
as the waters cover the sea.โ€

โ€” Habakkuk 2:14

๐ŸŒ… Devotional Thought

What is the glory of God?
In the Bible, it is more than light, power, or splendor.
It is the visible expression of His characterโ€”
His love, His justice, His mercy.

โ€œThen Moses said, โ€˜Please show me Your glory.โ€™
And He said, โ€˜I will make all My goodness pass before you.โ€™
โ€
โ€” Exodus 33:18โ€“19

When Moses longed to see Godโ€™s glory,
God showed him His goodness.
That is the true glory of heavenโ€”
not thunder or fire,
but the radiant beauty of divine love.

Ellen G. White wrote:

โ€œThe glory of God is His goodness, mercy, and love.
When human beings reflect His character,
His glory shines into the world.
โ€
(Christโ€™s Object Lessons, p. 415)

โœจ The Glory Revealed in Christ

โ€œAnd the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we beheld His glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.
โ€
โ€” John 1:14

In Jesus, the glory of God became visibleโ€”
not in force, but in humility;
not in harshness, but in grace.
Whoever sees Christ sees the Father (John 14:9).

Ellen White wrote:

โ€œChrist came to reveal the glory of the Father.
Through His life He revealed the character of God,
so that the world might know and love Him.
โ€
(The Desire of Ages, p. 18)

The greatest revelation of glory happened at the cross:
there love shone brighter than any starlight.
In the darkest moment, Godโ€™s brightest character was displayed.

๐ŸŒฟ The Glory in Us

โ€œBut we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.
โ€
โ€” 2 Corinthians 3:18

Godโ€™s glory is not only a heavenly spectacle,
but a present experience.
As we behold Jesus, we are transformedโ€”
quietly, but truly.
The light of His presence changes character,
and the believerโ€™s life begins to reflect His nature.

Ellen White writes:

โ€œThe more we behold Christ, the more we shall become like Him.
As we look to Him in faith,
His Spirit renews in us the image of God.
โ€
(Steps to Christ, p. 68)

So the promise is fulfilled:
โ€œThe earth will be filled with the knowledge of His glory.โ€
It is fulfilled in people who reflect Godโ€”
in hearts that love as Jesus loved.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The Glory That Is Coming

The glory that begins in the heart today
will one day fill the whole earth.
When Christ returns,
the world will be flooded with the light of His presence.

โ€œAnd the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together.
โ€
โ€” Isaiah 40:5

Ellen White describes:

โ€œWhen Christ appears,
the earth will shine with the brightness of His glory.
No eye will escape the light of His presence;
all will recognize His majesty and acknowledge His righteousness.
โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 640)

What we see now by faith,
we will then experience in perfect glory.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Lord of glory,
thank You that You have not hidden Your love,
but have made it visible in Jesus.

Teach me to behold Your goodness
until Your light transforms my heart.

Let my life today be a mirror of Your gloryโ€”
in gentleness, patience, and love.

Fill the earth with Your light,
and prepare us for the day
when Your glory will fill all things.

Amen.

๐Ÿ’ญ Thought for the Day

โ€œThe glory of God that will lighten the whole earth
is the character of Christ revealed in His people.
โ€
โ€” Ellen G. White, Christโ€™s Object Lessons, p. 415

๐Ÿ’ก Personal Application

  1. Read Exodus 33โ€“34 and 2 Corinthians 3.
What does this connection show you about Godโ€™s glory?

  2. Pray: โ€œLord, reveal Your goodness in my life today.โ€

  3. Practical step:
Do something today that reflects Godโ€™s characterโ€”
    forgive where bitterness was,
or help someone quietly without expecting anything in return.

๐ŸŒบ Closing Verse

โ€œFor it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,
who has shone in our hearts
to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God
in the face of Jesus Christ.
โ€
โ€” 2 Corinthians 4:6
