π± GROWING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
π Lesson 4: The Role of the Bible
π 4.7 Questions
Understanding faith and living it practically
π 1. Introduction β An honest self-assessment
Why do you actually believe in God?
This question seems simple, but it is crucial. We often believe without consciously thinking about it. But if we do not reflect on our faith, it remains superficial and vulnerable.
Faith needs a conscious foundation.
π 2. The foundation β Faith has reasons
The Bible shows that faith and thinking belong together. God does not call us to blind faith, but invites us to know Him.
There are many reasons for faith:
- creation
- personal experiences
- the reliability of the Bible
- Godβs work in oneβs own life
π Faith is not irrational β it has a foundation.
π 3. Connection to practice β Relationship requires connection
Every relationship lives through communication. Without exchange, distance develops.
This also applies to our relationship with God:
- in prayer we speak with Him
- in the Bible He speaks to us
π Without prayer and the Bible, no deep relationship can develop.
Many still try to live without this foundation β but that leads to spiritual weakness.
π‘ 4. Central message
π A living relationship with God grows through regular connection β through prayer and His Word.
There is no substitute for this.
βοΈ 5. Theological focus
At the center of these questions is the nature of faith.
Faith is more than a feeling or a tradition. It is trust based on a foundation. This foundation is Godβs revelation, given to us in the Bible.
God has revealed Himself intentionally. This means: faith is a response to what God has already revealed.
A decisive point is the relationship. The Christian faith is not just a system of beliefs, but a living connection with God.
This connection requires communication:
- prayer is the human response
- the Bible is Godβs response
If one is missing, the relationship becomes one-sided.
Another important aspect is the starting point. Anyone who wants to deepen their relationship with God needs a clear beginning. The Gospels are especially suitable because they show the life and character of Jesus.
π Theologically decisive:
Faith grows where the relationship with God is actively lived.
π 6. Biblical perspective β Living from the Word
- Deuteronomy 8:3 shows that a person does not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
This means: Godβs Word is not optional β it is essential for life.
Jesus Himself lived by this principle. He aligned His life completely with Godβs Word.
βLiving by every wordβ means concretely:
- making decisions according to Godβs principles
- placing Godβs will above oneβs own
- trusting Him, even when not everything is understood
π It is not about perfection, but about direction.
π§ 7. Application in daily life
These questions become practical through concrete steps:
- schedule fixed time for Bible and prayer
- start with the Gospels (e.g., John)
- read regularly and intentionally
- write down thoughts
- apply what is read in daily life
β 8. Reflection questions
Why do I really believe in God?
How consistent is my practice of Bible reading and prayer?
What is my next concrete step?
π 9. Final thought
Faith does not grow on its own.
It grows where we give space to God β
through His Word,
through prayer
and through the decision to trust Him in everyday life.
