πŸ‘‘ The King is coming soon – Hope beyond the end

πŸ“… March 4 – Humility Before God: When Kings Must Learn

Monthly Theme: Daniel: The God Who Directs History – Faithfulness in the Fiery Trial
Annual Theme 2026: β€œSoon the King Is Coming – Hope Beyond the End”

πŸ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

β€œNow I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and honor the King of heaven,
for all His works are truth and His ways are just;
and those who walk in pride He is able to humble.”

β€” Daniel 4:34

πŸŒ… Devotional Thought of the Day

Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful ruler of his time.
Babylon was magnificent, strong, and seemingly invincible.
Yet in the splendor of his power, the king forgot
who had given him everything.

β€œIs not this great Babylon,
which I have built … by my mighty power?”

β€” Daniel 4:27

Pride is a quiet danger.
It grows unnoticed in the heart
and replaces gratitude with self-confidence.

God allowed Nebuchadnezzar to learn a serious lesson:
The king lost his sanity and lived like an animal in the field.
Not out of cruelty β€”
but out of disciplining love.

✨ God’s Goal: Restoration

God’s judgment had a purpose:
humility and understanding.

When Nebuchadnezzar lifted his eyes to heaven,
his reason returned.

Humility begins when the gaze turns upward.

Ellen G. White wrote:
β€œGod humbled Nebuchadnezzar not to destroy him, but to save him.”
(Prophets and Kings, p. 521)

Sometimes it is through difficult paths
that God wins back our hearts.

🌿 Pride or Dependence?

The great controversy began in heaven with pride.
Lucifer sought to exalt himself.
Nebuchadnezzar repeated this pattern.

But God’s kingdom is built on humility.

β€œGod resists the proud,
but gives grace to the humble.”

β€” James 4:6

True greatness lies not in ruling,
but in recognizing our dependence on God.

πŸ•ŠοΈ Humility as Preparation for Eternity

Whoever awaits God’s kingdom
learns already here the principle of heaven:
God alone deserves the glory.

Ellen G. White wrote:
β€œOnly those who learn here to give glory to God will be prepared to live in His kingdom.”
(Maranatha, p. 120)

The return of Jesus will not reveal the glory of human achievement,
but the glory of God.

πŸŒ„ The King of Heaven

In the end, Nebuchadnezzar confesses:

β€œHis dominion is an everlasting dominion.”
β€” Daniel 4:31

The earthly king recognized the heavenly King.

That is the true lesson of Daniel 4:
God not only directs history β€”
He shapes hearts.

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear Father in heaven,
keep me from pride and self-confidence without You.

Teach me humility,
so that I may recognize Your guidance and give You the glory.

When You correct me,
help me see Your love in it.

Turn my eyes toward You,
the true King of my life.

Amen.
