π 1 Kings Chapter 11 β When Solomon Forgot God
β οΈ A King Who Had Much β Yet Lost What Mattered Most
π Introduction
Solomon was rich, wise, and famous.
He had built the temple, led the people, and loved God.
But chapter 11 shows us:
π Even the wisest people can make mistakes
π if they do not guard their hearts.
It is a sad story β
but also an important warning for all of us.
π The Bible story
Solomon was no longer young.
He had ruled for many years,
impressed many nations,
and made many decisions.
But one day something began
that did not please God.
Solomon fell in love with many foreign women β
from countries where foreign gods were worshiped.
God had warned:
βDo not marry such women β
they may turn your hearts away from Me.β
But Solomon did not listen to Godβs warning.
He married many β more than 700 wives,
and in addition 300 concubines.
And exactly what God had warned about happened:
They persuaded Solomon to build altars for their gods.
Soon Jerusalem was no longer only the city of the living God,
but also full of small temples for idols like Ashtoreth, Chemosh, or Milcom.
And what was even worse:
π Solomon himself worshiped there too.
π His heart no longer fully belonged to God.
π Godβs Reaction
God saw everything.
And God was disappointed.
He said to Solomon:
βYou have broken My covenant.
You have followed the wrong ways.
Therefore your kingdom will be torn apart.
Not during your lifetime β
but your son will experience it.β
God promised that not everything would be lost.
A part of the kingdom would remain β
because of Davidβs faithfulness in the past.
But Solomon had lost something important:
π Godβs closeness,
π Godβs joy,
π Godβs protection.
π₯ The First Enemies Appear
Even during Solomonβs lifetime
it began:
Enemies arose, unrest spread.
A man named Jeroboam was chosen by God
to later take over part of the kingdom.
Solomon heard about it β and tried to kill him.
But Jeroboam fled to Egypt.
Solomonβs heart was no longer at peace.
And when he died, he knew:
His son would inherit a divided kingdom.
π£ Summary
Solomon was a king greatly blessed β
but his heart became divided.
He listened to the wrong voices
and built altars for foreign gods.
God remained just β
and announced that the kingdom would be torn apart.
Yet because of Davidβs faithfulness,
He left hope.
π Message for Children Today
Sometimes we think a little disobedience is not such a big deal.
But Solomonβs story shows:
β Even wise people can fall
if they do not guard their hearts.
God wants your heart completely β
not halfway, not sometimes, not maybe.
He wants
that you listen to Him,
trust Him,
and stay with Him, even when others try to lead you a different way.
π Thought Impulse
πΉ Why did Solomon begin to worship other gods?
πΉ What could he have done differently?
πΉ How can you show today that your heart remains with God?

π Invitation to 1 Kings Chapter 12
β‘ When a New King Listens β But to the Wrong Voices
Solomon has died.
Now his son Rehoboam becomes king.
Everyone is wondering: Will he rule like his father?
The people have only one request:
π βMake things a little easier for us.β
Rehoboam asks for advice β
but what he does next changes all of Israel.
π Teaser for Chapter 12
First Rehoboam listens to the older, wise men.
They say:
π βServe the people, and they will gladly follow you.β
But then come the young advisers, his friends.
And they say:
π―οΈ βShow them that you are strong! Make it even stricter than your father!β
Rehoboam makes the wrong choice.
And that has terrible consequences:
β οΈ The people divide.
β οΈ Ten tribes leave β and follow another king: Jeroboam.
Chapter 12 shows:
π Whoever wants to lead must be humble.
π And whoever cares only about power often loses the trust of the people β and the blessing of God.
