Monthly Theme: The Great Controversy – The Conflict Between Good and Evil
Yearly Theme 2026: “The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”
📖 Central Bible Text of the Day
“And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem,
coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
— Revelation 21:2
🌅 Devotion of the Day
After the destruction of sin and the cleansing of the earth,
the very heart of eternity appears:
the New Jerusalem.
This city is not merely a place of gold and precious stones,
but the visible sign
that God will dwell with His people forever.
John describes it as a bride —
pure, glorious, prepared.
It comes down from God,
not as a human achievement,
but as a gift of divine grace.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“The New Jerusalem is the metropolis of the new earth.
Its glory surpasses all human imagination.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 675)
✨ A City Full of Glory
The description in Revelation 21 is overwhelming:
walls of jasper,
streets of pure gold,
gates of pearl,
foundations adorned with precious stones.
“The city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it;
for the glory of God did lighten it,
and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
Yet its true beauty does not lie in its material,
but in the presence of God.
The glory of the Lamb is its light.
Ellen White wrote:
“The light of the city is the presence of Jesus.
His love fills every corner,
and His glory permeates all.”
(Maranatha, p. 355)
🌿 The Names on the Gates
On its gates are written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel,
and on its foundations the names of the twelve apostles.
The Old and the New Testament meet here.
The history of redemption is complete.
“Blessed are they that wash their robes,
that they may have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
— Revelation 22:14
Entrance is not earned,
but given by grace.
Only those cleansed by the blood of the Lamb
will pass through these gates.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“Only the redeemed, purified through the blood of Christ,
may enter the gates of the holy city.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 646)
🕊️ The Throne of God and the River of Life
At the center of the city stands the throne of God and of the Lamb.
From it flows the river of life,
clear as crystal.
“And he showed me a pure river of water of life,
clear as crystal,
proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
— Revelation 22:1
The tree of life stands on both sides of the river.
What was lost in Eden
is fully restored here.
It is a place of healing,
of fellowship,
and of eternal joy.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“In the city of God there will be no more sorrow.
The redeemed drink of the water of life
and eat of the fruit of the tree.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 676)
🌄 A Home Forever
The New Jerusalem is not just a city —
it is our eternal home.
There will be no more night there,
no fear,
no separation.
“And they shall see his face;
and his name shall be in their foreheads.”
— Revelation 22:4
The greatest gift is nearness to God.
No temple is needed anymore,
for God Himself dwells among His people.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“The redeemed will dwell in the city of God
and from there behold the renewed earth.
Joy, peace, and love will be their eternal inheritance.”
(Education, p. 305)
🙏 Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
thank You for the promise of the New Jerusalem,
the city of Your presence.
Let my heart long for this eternal home.
Cleanse my life through the blood of the Lamb,
that one day I may enter through its gates.
Teach me to live today as a citizen of Your city —
in light, in truth, and in love.
Keep me faithful
until I see Your face.
Amen.
💭 Thought for the Day
“The New Jerusalem is the visible sign
that God has never abandoned His people.
His promise will become eternal reality.”
— Ellen G. White, Maranatha, p. 356
