🌅 Devotional of the Day
Jesus uses a simple image from nature:
the fig tree.
When its branches turn green,
everyone knows: summer is near.
In the same way, we should understand the signs of the times.
Not to calculate dates,
but to recognize nearness.
“So also, when you see all these things,
you know that it is near, right at the door.”
— Matthew 24:33
✨ Signs as an Invitation to Trust
The signs are not secret codes for a few,
but clear indications for all who are watchful.
They show:
God is at work — and His plan is approaching fulfillment.
Ellen G. White wrote:
“Just as the buds on the tree announce the coming of summer, so the signs point to the nearness of Christ’s return.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 308)
🌿 Not Calculating, but Being Ready
Many people want to know the exact time.
But Jesus clearly says:
“But about that day or hour no one knows.”
— Matthew 24:36
God does not call us to calculation,
but to readiness.
Every day is an opportunity,
to live with Him.
🕊️ A Watchful Heart
Only those who look closely
recognize the fig tree.
It is the same spiritually:
A watchful heart perceives God’s work.
This means:
- being open to God’s Word
- living attentively
- remaining inwardly prepared
🌄 Nearness Changes Life
When we know something great is approaching,
it changes our behavior.
The nearness of Jesus’ return
gives our daily life new meaning.
We live more consciously,
love more deeply
and trust more fully.
🙏 Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for preparing us for Your coming through the signs of the times.
Help me to stay watchful
and to recognize Your work in this world.
Keep me from merely observing,
without changing my life.
Make me ready,
when You return.
Amen.
