💔 2 Samuel Chapter 13 – Sadness in the Royal House

✨ When a Brother Hurts His Sister – and the Father Remains Silent

🌅 Introduction

Sometimes things happen that are so sad and so heavy,
that you ask yourself:
Why does nobody do anything?
Why does no one help?

That is exactly what happened in David’s family.
Something terrible happens –
and although many know about it, almost no one says anything.

This story is dark and serious.
But it helps us understand
why justice, protection, and courage are so important.

📖 The Biblical Story

David had many children.
Some of them were brothers and sisters –
others were only half-siblings.

There was Amnon, David’s oldest son.
And there was Tamar, a beautiful and kind daughter of David.
Her brother Absalom was very protective.

Amnon began to take a strong interest in Tamar.
But not in a good way.
He wanted something from her that was not right
something that is allowed only in marriage.
But Tamar was his half-sister.
Such a thing must not happen.

Amnon was so obsessed,
that he came up with a plan.
With the help of another man, he pretended to be sick
and had Tamar brought to him.

What happened then was not good.
Amnon treated Tamar very badly.
He hurt her and abused her trust.

When it was over, he pushed her away.
He wanted nothing more to do with her.

Tamar was deeply wounded.
She tore her clothes –
a sign that something terrible had happened to her –
and she went weeping to her brother Absalom.

Absalom took her into his house.
He said to her:
“Do not say anything more. Rest. I am here for you.”

But inwardly Absalom became very angry.
He saw what Amnon had done.
And he saw that King David – his father – knew about it.

David was sad.
But he did nothing.
No punishment.
No conversation.
No protection.

Two years passed.
Amnon simply went on living his life.
Tamar remained in Absalom’s house – quiet, silent, wounded.

Then Absalom made a decision.
He invited all the brothers to a feast.
Amnon came as well.

And there, after the meal, Absalom had Amnon killed.
He said:
“What you did to Tamar was wrong.
And you were not punished for it.”

All the brothers fled.
David heard what had happened –
and was once again sad.
But even this time, no one openly spoke about
what had happened at the very beginning.

🟣 Summary

Amnon does something very terrible.
Tamar is hurt, Absalom stays silent for two years –
and David, the king and father, does nothing.

In the end Absalom takes revenge –
and the family breaks apart even more.

💚 Message for Children Today

Sometimes things happen that are not right.
Even in families.
Even among friends.

What matters is this:
You may always speak up when something wrong happens to you or to others.
You may ask for help.
And you may know: God sees you.
He does not want you to remain alone with your pain.
And He also calls adults to take responsibility.

💭 Reflection

🔹 Why is it important not to stay silent when something wrong is done to someone?
🔹 What would you have done in Absalom’s or David’s place?
🔹 Do you know someone you could help if he or she is sad or hurt?

💌 Invitation to 2 Samuel – Chapter 14

🧵 When Separation Does Not Have to Be the End

Absalom has killed his brother Amnon.
Since then he has fled and lives far from his father David.
There is silence between father and son.

But deep in his heart David misses his son.
And Absalom? He too longs for a second chance.

Can distance become closeness again?
Can a father forgive – and can a son return?

This story shows
that forgiveness and a new beginning sometimes need a little help.

how much love for Absalom is still in his heart.

But:
