Year theme 2026: βSoon the King Is Coming β Hope Beyond the Endβ
π Central Bible Verse of the Day
βAnd I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven,
having the everlasting gospel
to preach to those who dwell on the earth β¦
and he said with a loud voice:
Fear God and give glory to Him,
for the hour of His judgment has come;
and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.β
β Revelation 14:6β7
π Devotional Thought of the Day
At the heart of the great controversy stands the question:
Whom do we worship?
This decision is not only religious β it is eternal.
From the beginning, worship has been the test of loyalty.
The conflict began in heaven
when Lucifer desired to be βlike the Most Highβ (Isaiah 14:14).
Since then, the enemy has sought to redirect worship from God to himself.
βYou shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.β
β Matthew 4:10
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe essence of the great controversy is worship β
who receives the honor: the Creator or the adversary.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 437)
β¨ True Worship β in Spirit and in Truth
Jesus explained to the woman at Jacobβs well
what true worship means:
βThe true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth;
for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.β
β John 4:23
True worship begins in the heart,
not in ritual.
It is not merely outward religion,
but a response of love to Godβs love.
It is grounded in truth β
and truth has its source in the Word of God.
Ellen White:
βTrue worship consists in honoring God
as He has revealed Himself.
It is rooted in love and expressed through obedience.β
(The Desire of Ages, p. 189)
πΏ Worship of the Creator
The three angelsβ message (Revelation 14:6β12)
calls humanity back to worshiping the Creator.
In a world that has turned away from God
and honors creation rather than the Creator (Romans 1:25),
God calls His people to recognize again the source of life.
βFor in Him we live and move and have our being.β
β Acts 17:28
The Sabbath is the enduring sign of this worship,
the weekly testimony
that God alone is the origin and sustainer of all life.
Ellen White wrote:
βThe Sabbath is the great memorial of creation
and the sign of true worship.
It distinguishes the worshiper of the Creator
from those who worship false gods.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 438)
π₯ The False System of Worship
Satan works tirelessly
to corrupt true worship.
Already in Babylon an image was set up
before which all were commanded to bow (Daniel 3).
This was more than a political act β
it was an attack on Godβs authority.
In the end times, history will repeat itself.
A religious-political system will call the world
to worship a false image (Revelation 13).
βAnd it causes that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.β
β Revelation 13:15
Ellen White warns:
βThe worship of the beast and its image
is the homage rendered to human authority
in place of the authority established by God.
It represents the climax of rebellion against the Creator.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 449)
Thus true and false worship
will reveal either the seal or the mark:
faithfulness to God or loyalty to human commandments.
ποΈ Worship as a Way of Life
Worship is more than music or liturgy β
it is a lifestyle.
Those who truly worship God
live according to His will and reflect His character.
βI urge you β¦ to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,
which is your reasonable service of worship.β
β Romans 12:1
Ellen White wrote:
βThe highest expression of worship is loving obedience.
When the human will becomes one with Godβs will,
true worship begins.β
(Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, p. 84)
Every day can become an altar,
every act of service a song of praise,
when the heart remains directed toward God.
π Worship in Heaven
In the new earth, worship will be perfect.
Sin and deception will have passed away,
and the voices of the redeemed will proclaim:
βWorthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and blessing!β
β Revelation 5:12
Ellen White describes:
βIn the new earth, worship will be joy, unity, and light.
No conflict, no deception β
only the eternal harmony of praise to the Creator.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 678)
Every Sabbath in eternity
will remain a testimony of this true worship (Isaiah 66:23).
π Prayer
Lord,
You alone are worthy to be worshiped.
Keep my heart from every form of false worship.
Teach me to honor You in spirit and in truth,
in obedience and in love.
May my life each day
be a song of faithfulness to You.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
βTrue worship is the conscious decision
to place God above everything β
above fear, comfort, and human authority.β
β Ellen G. White, Maranatha, p. 266
π‘ Personal Application
-
Read Revelation 14:6β12 and Daniel 3.
Compare true and false worship. -
Pray: βLord, teach me to honor You in everything.β
-
Practical step:
Begin or end your day today with a deliberate moment of worship β
read a Psalm, sing a song, or thank God aloud for His creation.
πΊ Closing Verse
βCome, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.β
β Psalm 95:6
