The passage from John 11:25, in which Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die,” reminds us that the end in our lives is not the final word. In fact, it is the beginning of something new, something eternal.
Yes, the endings of our earthly stories are often connected to death. We all confront this reality, whether through the loss of loved ones or our own mortality. It is a harsh and painful reality that affects us all.
But faith in Jesus Christ gives us hope beyond death. He tells us that death is not the end of our story. By believing in Jesus, we have the prospect of eternal life with God. Death will not have the final word in our lives because Jesus has overcome death.
In this world, our stories may end with tears and pain, but in the light of the Gospel, there is a greater story that extends beyond this world. It is the story of redemption, resurrection, and eternal life.
Our ends in this world are not the end of our true story. Jesus offers us the opportunity to write a story that never ends, a story that continues in His eternal presence. Have faith in Jesus, and you will find the true “happy ending,” eternal life in His presence.
