👑 The King is coming soon – Hope beyond the end

🌅 March 29 – Hope beyond death: Daniel’s hope of resurrection

Monthly theme: Daniel: The God who directs history – Faithfulness in the fire of testing
Year theme 2026: “Soon the King is coming – Hope beyond the end”

📖 Central Bible text of the day

“And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life.”
Daniel 12:2

🌅 Devotional of the day

The book of Daniel does not end with a political vision,
but with a personal hope: resurrection.

Daniel saw distress, judgment, and the end of kingdoms.
Yet above everything stands this promise:
Death is not the final word.

For a man in exile,
who had experienced the destruction of Jerusalem,
this was a powerful hope.

“You shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”
Daniel 12:13

God did not promise Daniel only understanding—
but life.

Sleep and awakening

The Bible describes death as sleep.
Not as eternal separation,
but as rest until the resurrection.

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep,
but we shall all be changed.”

1 Corinthians 15:51

Ellen G. White wrote:
“For the believer, death is only a short sleep until the morning of the resurrection.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 550)

This hope takes away the fear of death.

🌿 A living future

Daniel’s hope was not vague or symbolic.
It was concrete:
He would rise and receive his inheritance.

God’s salvation is holistic—
not only spiritual,
but also physical.

The new life will be real,
in a renewed creation.

🕊️ Comfort in loss and farewell

We too experience farewells and pain.
But Daniel’s vision reminds us:

Our story does not end in the grave.

Ellen G. White wrote:
“On the morning of the resurrection, Christ will call His redeemed by name.”
(Maranatha, p. 302)

What a comforting thought:
God does not forget a single name.

🌄 Living in the light of eternity

The hope of the resurrection changes our present.
It gives courage in trials
and comfort in suffering.

We do not live only for this moment—
but for eternity.

🙏 Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
thank You for the hope of the resurrection and eternal life.

Comfort me when I experience loss,
and strengthen my faith in Your promise.

Help me to live in the light of eternity
and to anchor my hope firmly in You.

Thank You that death is not the end,
but the beginning of Your perfect redemption.

Amen.
