🙌 Why David does not remain silent when God rescues him

🌅 Introduction

Have you ever experienced coming out of a really difficult situation —
and afterward you just wanted to say:
“Thank you, God!”?

That is exactly what King David experienced.
For many years he was hunted.
He fought, hoped, prayed, and doubted.
But God had rescued him again and again.

Now, as he looks back on his life,
David does something very special:
he writes a song.
A song for God.
A song full of praise, memories, and gratitude.

📖 The Bible story

David was king in Israel.
He had fought many battles,
but even more than that, he had prayed, waited, and hoped.

He remembered the times
when he had to hide in caves,
when he was afraid at night
because Saul was chasing him.
And he remembered the many moments
when God gave him courage, strength, and a safe refuge.

Now, many years later,
he looks back —
and he writes:

“The Lord is my rock,
my fortress,
and my deliverer.”

David does not think first about swords or heroic strength,
but about the fact
that God was always there
when he needed Him.

🌊 God Rescues from the Depths

In his song, David describes
how he was in great trouble —
how waves of fear surrounded him.
He says:

“Waves of death surrounded me.
I was trapped in darkness and fear.
But I called to the Lord,
and He heard me.”

David imagines
God coming down from heaven,
with thunder and lightning —
not to frighten him,
but to rescue him.

“He reached down from the heights
and pulled me out of the waters.
He set me on firm ground.”

What a powerful picture!
God as a rescuer — strong and good,
who is never too great
to help a single person.

🛡️ God Makes Strong

But David does not praise God only
because He rescued him.
He also praises Him
because God made him strong.

“You trained my hands for battle.
You made my feet like the feet of a deer.
You gave me strength.”

David knows this:
his victories were not just because he was king
or because he had soldiers —
they were gifts from God.

🙏 God Sees the Heart

At the end of his song, David reflects
that God looks at the heart —
not only at what can be seen on the outside.
He writes:

“God shows Himself faithful to those who are faithful.
And to those who are sincere,
He shows kindness.”

David knows this:
sometimes he was weak,
but God was always faithful.
That is why he wants to thank God with his whole life.

He remembers fear and rescue,
battles and peace.
And he does what many forget to do:

He thanks God.
With a song.

God does not rescue only kings.
He helps everyone who calls on Him —
even today.

Maybe you do not have enemies like David,
but sometimes you feel afraid,
sad, or lonely.

Then you can pray like David:
“Lord, help me.”
And when God comforts you or helps you —
do not forget to thank Him.

Maybe not with a song like David,
but with an honest:
Thank you, God.
