David had just returned as king.
The people had just begun to calm down.

David was sitting again on his throne.
He was sad, tired, but also thankful.
At last, it seemed like everything would be fine.

But then something unexpected happened:
A man named Sheba, from the tribe of Benjamin,
suddenly stood up and shouted:

“We have no share in David!
Israel, go home! We do not want him as king anymore!”

And indeed, many Israelites followed him.
They left David and ran after Sheba.

🏃‍♂️ Sheba Runs Away

Sheba was fast.
He traveled through the land,
gathered men around him,
and looked for a safe city
where he could hide.

He found one:
Abel Beth Maacah, a city with thick walls and many people.

There he closed the gates –
ready to defend himself.

⚔️ Joab Moves In

When David heard about it,
he sent his troops –
with Joab at the front.

Joab was not a man of many words.
He was a fighter.
And when he arrived at the city,
he built a great ramp –
a kind of wall to break through the city’s defenses.

His men began to attack the city.

But then something surprising happened.

A wise woman from the city came to the gate.
She called out loudly:

“I want to speak with Joab! Bring him to me!”

Joab came forward. The woman said:

“Why do you want to destroy our whole city?
We are peaceful people.
You would be destroying God’s inheritance!”

Joab replied:

“I do not want to harm you.
I am only after one man — Sheba.
If you hand him over, we will leave.”

🎯 A Wise Decision

The woman nodded.

“Wait here. We will take care of it.”

She went back into the city,
spoke with the people —
and they all realized:
This man brings only danger.

A short time later,
Sheba was handed over to Joab.

The city was saved.
No war, no broken walls —
all because of the wisdom of one woman
who did not stay silent, but acted.
