As soon as David had secured his throne, his eyes turned forward. It was no longer only about survival — but about building, order, and a spiritual center.

David did not seek just any capital. He sought a place of meaning. Jerusalem — still called Jebus at that time — was strategically well located and full of history. Here Abraham had trusted God, and here Melchizedek had ministered.
But the city was not free. The Jebusites considered it impregnable. What had seemed untouchable for generations fell under David’s leadership. Joab led the attack, and the stronghold was taken.
With this step, more than a political capital emerged — Jerusalem became the spiritual center. A place where heaven and earth were to meet.
