๐ January 19 โ The Everlasting Gospel
Monthly theme: The blessed hope โ living in expectation
Year theme 2026: โSoon the King is coming โ hope beyond the endโ
๐ Central Bible text of the day
โAnd I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven,
having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth,
to every nation and tribe and language and people.โ
โ Revelation 14:6
๐ Devotional thought of the day
The everlasting gospel is the message that connects heaven and earth.
It is not newโit is everlasting, because it is as old as God Himself.
From Eden to the new earth it has always been the same message:
God loves. God saves. God remains faithful.
โFor God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life.โ
โ John 3:16
This gospel gave Adam hope,
encouraged Noah, guided Abraham, and comforted David.
And today it is the same saving power for all
who hold fast to Christ by faith.
Ellen G. White wrote:
โThe gospel is not a new principle.
It was proclaimed to Adam when the divine promise was given him
that the seed of the woman would bruise the serpentโs head.
From the beginning Christ has been the center of all humanityโs hope.โ
(Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 63)
โจ The gospelโgood news in a broken world
In a world full of fear, violence, and confusion,
the gospel is like a shining torch in the night.
It is the message that God has not given up on us,
that reconciliation is possible and peace is real.
โFor I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.โ
โ Romans 1:16
The gospel is not only a teaching,
but powerโ
a living force that transforms hearts,
shapes character, and awakens hope.
Ellen White writes:
โThe gospel of Christ is the highest revelation of the power of God.
It has power to renew the human heart
and bring it into fellowship with heaven.โ
(Christโs Object Lessons, p. 39)
This message will be proclaimed until the end,
for it is Godโs last call of love to humanity.
๐ฟ The gospel and the coming kingdom
The everlasting gospel proclaims not only forgiveness,
but also the kingdom of God, which is soon to come.
โAnd this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world
as a witness to all the nations,
and then the end will come.โ
โ Matthew 24:14
Jesus links the proclamation of the gospel
directly with His return.
The good news will reach all nations
before heaven is opened.
So the gospel is not only comfort,
but a commission.
Ellen White wrote:
โThe gospel, which in Revelation is called โeverlasting,โ
must be proclaimed in its purity and power
to prepare people for the coming of the Lord.โ
(The Great Controversy, p. 311)
We are bearers of this everlasting messageโ
messengers of light in a dark world.
๐๏ธ Grace that remains forever
The gospel does not end when the history of this world ends.
Its melody will echo forever in heaven.
For through all ages
the redeemed will testify:
โBy grace I am saved!โ
โSo that in the ages to come
He might show the exceeding riches of His grace
in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.โ
โ Ephesians 2:7
Ellen White describes it like this:
โThe gospel of the grace of God will be the study and the song of the redeemed through all eternity.
In Christ they will see the depth of the love that redeemed them.โ
(The Great Controversy, p. 678)
The gospel is everlasting
because the love from which it flows is everlasting.
๐ Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ,
thank You for the everlasting gospelโ
the message of Your love, Your forgiveness, Your life.
Let me today be a living witness of this gospel,
so that others may recognize Your grace through me.
Strengthen my faith,
so that I do not only hear this good news,
but live it and pass it on.
Amen.
๐ญ Thought for the day
โThe everlasting gospel is the story of Godโs grace,
which has no end.
It began in the Fatherโs love,
was revealed in the life of the Son,
and will be completed in the kingdom of glory.โ
โ Ellen G. White, Maranatha, p. 363
