๐Ÿ‘‘ The King is coming soon โ€“ Hope beyond the end

๐Ÿ“… 15 January โ€“ The new heaven and the new earth

Monthly theme: The blessed hope โ€“ living in expectation
Year theme 2026: โ€œSoon the King is coming โ€“ Hope beyond the endโ€

๐Ÿ“– Central Bible text of the day

โ€œFor behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
and the former things shall not be remembered
or come into mind.โ€

โ€” Isaiah 65:17

๐ŸŒ… Devotional for the day

When the great controversy is over,
when sin, suffering, and death are gone forever,
then the most glorious time of eternity begins:
the new heaven and the new earth.

What was once destroyed by sin
will be perfectly renewed by Godโ€™s hand.
The earth, soaked with tears, blood, and pain,
will bloom again โ€” free from curse and decay.

โ€œThen I saw a new heaven and a new earth,
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.โ€

โ€” Revelation 21:1

โœจ God makes everything new

Only the Creator Himself can create โ€”
and only He can re-create.
The new earth is not a strange place,
but the renewed home of the redeemed.

Ellen G. White describes it with overwhelming joy:

โ€œThe earth, which once groaned under the curse of sin,
will become the dwelling place of the righteous.
There, eternal spring will reign,
and hills and valleys will blossom in the light of joy.โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 674)

Everything that was beautiful and good
will appear again in perfect glory โ€”
without decay, without pain, without death.
God Himself dwells in the midst of His people.

โ€œBehold, the dwelling place of God is with man!โ€
โ€” Revelation 21:3

๐ŸŒฟ Life in the new world

What will life be like on the new earth?
The Bible gives us small but powerful glimpses:

โ€œThey shall build houses and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit โ€ฆ
My chosen shall enjoy the work of their hands.โ€

โ€” Isaiah 65:21โ€“22

It will be a life of joy, creativity, and love.
Work without hardship, knowledge without limits,
relationships without rupture.
All beings will live in perfect harmony with their Creator.

Ellen White wrote:

โ€œIn the new earth there will be no trace of sorrow, sin, or death.
Every human faculty will be developed,
every desire fulfilled, every longing satisfied.
The continual knowledge of God will increase happiness and peace.โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 677)

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The presence of God โ€“ the sun of eternity

โ€œAnd the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it,
for the glory of God gives it light,
and its lamp is the Lamb.โ€

โ€” Revelation 21:23

In this new world there is no shadow, no night.
The glory of God Himself is the light,
and Jesus is the sun that never sets.

The redeemed will serve God โ€” not out of duty,
but in love, joy, and perfect peace.
The great plan of redemption is complete,
and the universe breathes in harmony with its Creator.

Ellen White sums it up:

โ€œFrom the smallest atom to the greatest world, there is life, light, and joy.
No discord mars the universe.
All things declare, in unclouded beauty: God is love.โ€
(The Great Controversy, p. 678)

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Eternal Father,
thank You that You have promised
to make heaven and earth new.

Help me even today to seek Your kingdom,
and help me to begin the new heaven in my heart.

Remove from me everything that belongs to the old life,
and fill me with the hope of renewal.

May Your kingdom come,
and may Your glory drive away all darkness.

Amen.

๐Ÿ’ญ Thought for the day
