๐Ÿ‘‘ The King Is Coming Soon โ€“ Hope Beyond the End

๐Ÿ“… 11 January โ€“ The New Jerusalem

Monthly Theme: The Blessed Hope โ€“ Living in Expectation
Theme for 2026: โ€œThe King Is Coming Soon โ€“ Hope Beyond the Endโ€

๐Ÿ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

โ€œThen I, John, saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem,
coming down out of heaven from God,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.โ€

โ€” Revelation 21:2

๐ŸŒ… Devotional Thought for the Day

One of the most glorious pictures in the Bible is the vision of the New Jerusalem.
John does not see merely a city of gold and precious stones,
but the center of Godโ€™s loveโ€”the eternal home of the redeemed.
The city is not built by human hands,
but โ€œprepared by Godโ€โ€”
a symbol of perfect beauty, purity, and joy.

โ€œBehold, the tabernacle of God is with men,
and He will dwell with them,
and they shall be His people.
God Himself will be with them and be their God.โ€

โ€” Revelation 21:3

This is the climax of redemption:
God and humanity are reunited.
No separation, no sin, no deathโ€”only fellowship, light, and eternal joy.

โœจ The City of Promise

Even Abraham longed for this city:

โ€œFor he waited for the city which has foundations,
whose builder and maker is God.โ€

โ€” Hebrews 11:10

This hope was the driving force of the patriarchsโ€™ faith.
They lived as strangers on earth,
because they knew that their true home was not here.

Ellen G. White writes:
โ€œThe New Jerusalem is the home of the redeemed.
There the children of God, strangers and pilgrims on earth,
will finally find their rest.โ€

(The Great Controversy, p. 676)

The New Jerusalem is not a dream,
but the fulfillment of all divine promises.
What Jesus promised in John 14โ€”โ€œI go to prepare a place for youโ€โ€”
becomes visible here.

๐ŸŒฟ A City of Light and Life

John describes the city with images that seem almost beyond this world:
walls of jasper, streets of pure gold, gates of pearls (Revelation 21:18โ€“21).
Yet its true glory does not lie in precious stones,
but in the presence of God:

โ€œThe city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it,
for the glory of God illuminated it.
The Lamb is its light.โ€

โ€” Revelation 21:23

Ellen White writes:
โ€œThe light of the sun is outshone in that city
by the radiance of the glory of God.
No shadow falls there, no night exists.
The face of Jesus is the light of the redeemed.โ€

(The Great Controversy, p. 677)

No suffering, no darkness, no fearโ€”
only eternal life in the light of Christโ€™s love.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The Presence of the King

โ€œThey shall see His face,
and His name shall be on their foreheads.โ€

โ€” Revelation 22:4

What a wonderful thought:
We will see God face to face.
What Moses was not allowed to see (Exodus 33:20)
will be granted to the redeemed.
No veil, no temple, no separation anymoreโ€”
only closeness, glory, and peace.

Ellen G. White describes this meeting:
โ€œIn the presence of Jesus, the struggles of life are forgotten.
Every pain, every tear, every sacrifice
will appear infinitely small
in view of the joy of seeing His face.โ€

(Maranatha, p. 355)

The second coming of Jesus opens the gate to this city.
And whoever is sanctified now in His light
will dwell there forever in the light of His presence.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Lord,
You have promised us a city that no human can destroy.
Thank You that You desire to dwell with us.

Let the hope of the New Jerusalem fill my heart today.
Cleanse me, so that I may be ready to live in Your presence.

When life here becomes heavy,
remind me of the city You have preparedโ€”
where tears end and joy remains forever.

Amen.

๐Ÿ’ญ Thought for the Day

โ€œThe New Jerusalem is the crown of redemption.
There the redeemed will praise God,
because He has made all things new.โ€

๐Ÿ’ก Personal Application

  1. Read Revelation 21โ€“22.
Picture the cityโ€”not as a fairy tale, but as a coming reality.

  2. Write: What joy are you looking forward to most in the New Jerusalem?

  3. Pray: โ€œLord, shape in me a longing for my eternal home.โ€

๐ŸŒบ Closing Verse

โ€œRejoice because your names are written in heaven.โ€
