🌅 Devotional Thought for the Day
There is no greater moment in the history of the universe than the one all believers are hoping for:
the return of Jesus Christ.
This moment will change the world—forever.
Not a dream, not a parable, not a symbolic vision,
but a visible, loud, glorious reality.
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first.”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:16
What Jesus promised will be fulfilled literally.
He will come again—not quietly as the first time,
but in indescribable glory.
Everyone who loves Him will be able to say on that day:
“Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us!”
— Isaiah 25:9
✨ Not a Secret Event
The Bible makes it clear: the return of Jesus will be visible, audible, and universal.
“For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west,
so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
— Matthew 24:27
No one will miss it. No believer will be forgotten.
Angels will be sent out to gather the redeemed from the ends of the earth (Mark 13:27).
The entire universe will witness the moment
when the Redeemer brings His children home.
Ellen G. White describes this moment as follows:
“Soon there appears in the east a small black cloud, about half the size of a man’s hand.
It is the cloud which surrounds the Savior.
As it draws nearer, it becomes larger and brighter and more glorious,
until it is a great white cloud—the cloud of heaven—
upon which the Son of God comes in glory.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 640)
🌿 Joy Instead of Fear
For some, this day will be fulfillment; for others, shock.
But those who love Christ have no reason to fear.
For believers, His return means redemption, not judgment.
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads,
because your redemption draws near.”
— Luke 21:28
Ellen White wrote:
“For the redeemed, the second coming of Jesus marks the end of pain,
death, and separation.
It is the beginning of a new and glorious life with their Lord.”
(Maranatha, p. 282)
This certainty transforms fear into worship,
and waiting into joy.
The Second Coming is not a nightmare—it is coming home.
🕊️ A Call to Readiness
“Therefore you also be ready,
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
— Luke 12:40
Christ does not call us to calculation, but to readiness.
Not to know the day, but to live every day
as if it were the day of His coming.
Ellen White wrote:
“The exact time of Christ’s coming has not been revealed,
so that we may regard every day as our last.
Only in this way can we remain watchful, faithful, and full of hope.”
(Testimonies, vol. 8, p. 36)
To be ready means to live at peace with God,
in the power of faith,
and in the service of love.
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ,
we await Your coming—with longing and joy.
Give us faith that endures,
hope that does not fade,
and love that never fails.
Help us live today
as if You might appear this very moment.
Cleanse our hearts and fill them with Your presence,
until we see You in glory.
Amen.
