๐พ Joseph โ Faith That Carries You Through
Devotions from the Life of a Dreamer with Character
๐ ย 1. Big Visions โ Simple Hearts
God sees your potential, even when others see only your youth
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ๐พโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ฃ Introduction
He was young, full of energy. Loved by his father. Clothed with a special robe. And gifted with dreams larger than his life.
Joseph โ only 17 โ saw things no one else saw.
But his dreams didnโt make him cool, popular, or admired.
They made him a target.
While he spoke excitedly, his brothers rolled their eyes.
While he spoke Godโs vision, jealousy grew in them.
Joseph had big dreams โ but a simple, faithful heart.
And God knew: I can make something out of this.

๐ Devotion
Genesis 37:5
โJoseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more.โ
Imagine Joseph: a 17-year-old boy, slender, with bright eyes, full of energy.
He wears the colorful robe his father gave him โ a coat that shines in the sun like a rainbow. You can tell: this boy is special. And his brothers see it tooโฆ just not in a good way.
One morning Joseph comes into the house with a wide grin.
โI had a dream!โ he says โ and without thinking, without filtering, he unloads it immediately.
He tells of sheaves bowing down to his sheaf.
Of stars, the sun, and the moon bowing to him.
As Joseph speaks, his eyes sparkle โ but his brothersโ eyes darken.
They do not hear, โGod is speaking to us.โ
They only hear, โJoseph is putting himself above us.โ
And with every sentence he speaks, something dark grows in them.
Jealousy. Bitterness. Anger.
Joseph hardly notices.
He loves his brothers. He trusts them.
And he believes: If God shows something, it must mean something good. Then surely everyone should know โ right?
But it doesnโt always work that way.
Later the brothers whisper in the barn.
โWho does he think he is?โ
โA child!โ
โA dreamer!โ
โIf he keeps going like this, this will end badlyโฆโ
Joseph, meanwhile, lies awake at night thinking about his dream.
Not in terms of power or control.
But as a question: Godโฆ what do You want to show me? Why me?
He doesnโt realize that these dreams are like seeds.
Planted by God.
But still underground.
Invisible. Unprotected.
And Joseph is young โ perhaps too young to understand that not everyone is ready for what God begins in him.
The truth is:
Sometimes God speaks to you long before you have the character to carry the message.
And Joseph?
He was loved, yes.
Gifted, definitely.
Touched by God, without question.
But he was also impulsive.
Open.
Not yet grounded.
God gave him big visions โ but the road to them was full of rough edges.
A path that would teach him not only to dream, but to endure.
And while Joseph was still enthusiastically talking about his dreams, God was already preparing something far greater.
Something Joseph would understand later:
Visions are given โ but character is forged.

๐ก Thoughts โ What does this mean for us?
-
God still speaks to young people today โ clearer than many think.
-
Your vision does not need to be understood by everyone.
-
Rejection does not mean you are wrong.
-
God sees in you what others cannot (yet) see.
And:
You donโt have to be great to receive great things from God.
But you may grow to live them faithfully.

๐ What can we learn from Joseph?
-
God often starts early.
You are not โtoo youngโ to be used. -
Big dreams require a humble heart.
Vision without character leads to stumbling. -
Not everyone understands what God shows you.
Keep it in your heart โ and in Godโs hands. -
God sees potential others cannot recognize.
He does not look at age or status โ He sees the heart.

๐ฃ Practical steps for you
-
Take Godโs impressions seriously.
Maybe God is showing you something bigger than yourself. -
Write down your dreams.
Record what God places in your heart โ even if itโs not visible yet. -
Ask God for character growth.
Ask: โLord, make me ready for what You have planned.โ -
Donโt tell everything to everyone.
Some things are holy โ and need protection before they can mature.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ๐พโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ญ Practical questions for reflection
-
What dreams or impressions has God given me recently?
-
Am I afraid to talk about them โ or do I sometimes speak too early?
-
Where do I need character strength before I can live out a dream?
-
Which people in my life strengthen my vision โ and which ones hinder it?

๐ Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,
you see my dreams โ even the ones I can barely speak out loud.
You know my heart, my excitement, but also my insecurity.
Give me Your wisdom.
Make my heart strong but humble.
Let me grow in patience so I can walk Your path faithfully.
Shape my character
so that I can carry the tasks You have prepared for me.
And help me trust You โ even when others donโt understand my dreams.
Amen.

๐ Key thought of the day
God sees more in you than others notice โ and more than you can recognize yourself.
He is preparing your heart so you can live His great dreams.

๐ฟ Blessing to close
The God who gave Joseph great dreams
and step by step made him the bearer of those dreams,
bless you.
May He strengthen your heart,
lead you in wisdom,
and give you courage to grasp
what He has placed inside you.
May you recognize:
God is already working in you โ
long before the dream becomes visible.
Amen.
