ποΈπ‘οΈ Judges 1 β A Land Awaits Courageous Steps
πΎβοΈ How Israel learns to trust, to fight β and sometimes to lose
π Introduction
A new chapter begins β the people of Israel stand before a great dream:
They are finally allowed to enter the land God promised them.
But a land isnβt simply handed over as a gift.
It takes courage. Faith. And a heart that trusts God.
Judges 1 shows how the people experience victories with God β and how trouble starts when they stop listening closely to Him.
π The Bible story
Imagine you finally come home after a long journey β but someone else is living in your room! π²
Thatβs how the Israelites felt. They had traveled for many years, and now they stood before the land God wanted to give them. But other peoples still lived there β strong, experienced, full of warriors.
β¨ But Israel had something the others didnβt have: God.
π³οΈ The first battle begins
The Israelites asked:
βLord, who should fight first? Who will lead us?β
And God said: βThe tribe of Judah.β
Judah got ready. The drums sounded, the weapons flashed, and their hearts beat with courage β and a little fear too π«£.
But God was with them. And so Judah won many battles. The enemies fled, and piece by piece the land became Godβs peopleβs land.
Israel cheered π
βGod is with us! We can do it!β
𧱠But then things changed
Part of the land was hard to take. The cities had strong walls π§±, iron chariots π§, huge soldiers with shields as big as doors.
Some tribes said:
βWe canβt do this β¦ theyβre too strong.β
It was as if someone switched off the light inside their hearts.
Courage grew small.
Faith grew quiet.
And instead of moving forward, Israel stopped.
Some enemies were allowed to stay in the land.
Others were not driven out.
Slowly life and faith became mixed β and that became a problem.
π A small step of disobedience becomes big later
God had said:
βClear the land β follow Me β trust Me.β
But Israel left parts still standing.
Just a little.
Just here and there.
And every βJust a littleβ¦β later became a great danger.
Like a small stone in your shoe πͺ¨ β
at first you hardly notice it,
but the farther you walk, the more it hurts.
π± But the story isnβt over yet
Judges chapter 1 doesnβt end with victory β but it doesnβt end with defeat either.
It ends with an open road β a road where God keeps calling His people:
π βTrust Me. Keep going. I am with you.β
The Bible is honest.
Sometimes we are brave.
Sometimes we are weak.
And God still walks with us.
π£ Summary
Israel experiences many victories with God β but also setbacks when it begins to doubt and doesnβt obey fully.
A small leftover piece of disobedience later becomes a big stone in the way.
But God does not give up.
He stays.
He keeps calling.
