π’οΈ 2 Kings Chapter 9 β The New King Jehu
βοΈ When Godβs Patience Comes to an End
π Introduction
God is patient.
Very patient.
He warns.
He calls people to turn back.
He gives them time.
But what happens
when people keep refusing to listen?
When they treat others badly,
worship false gods,
and ignore Godβs words?
Chapter 9 shows:
Godβs patience is great β
but His word does not remain without effect.
π The Biblical Story
π A Secret Mission
The prophet Elisha called a young prophet to him.
βGet ready,β he said.
βTake this flask of oil
and go to Ramoth in Gilead.β
There he was to find a man named Jehu.
Jehu was a commander of the army.
The young prophet received a clear assignment:
He was to take Jehu aside,
anoint him with oil,
and say:
βThus says the Lord:
I have anointed you king over Israel.β
Then he was to flee quickly.
It was a secret mission.
π Jehu Is Anointed
The young man set out.
He found Jehu among other officers.
βI have a message for you,β he said.
Jehu stood up.
They went into a house.
There the young prophet poured oil on Jehuβs head
and said:
βThe Lord makes you king.
You are to destroy the house of Ahab.
For God has not forgotten the blood of His prophets.β
Then the young prophet ran away.
Jehu remained behind β
with oil on his head
and a great task before him.
βοΈ A New King
When Jehu returned to the other officers,
they asked:
βIs everything alright?
What did that madman want?β
At first Jehu said nothing.
But they pressed him.
Finally he told them
that God had anointed him king.
Then they took their cloaks,
spread them on the steps,
and blew the trumpet.
βJehu is king!β
Everything suddenly moved very fast.
πΉ Judgment on Joram
At the same time, King Joram of Israel was lying sick in Jezreel.
When he heard that Jehu was coming,
he got into his chariot
and went out to meet him.
βIs it peace, Jehu?β Joram called.
But Jehu answered:
βHow can there be peace
as long as the sins of your mother Jezebel
are so great?β
Joram realized
that danger was near.
He tried to flee.
But Jehu drew his bow
and shot.
The arrow struck Joram in the heart.
He died β
exactly in the place
that God had spoken about many years before.
Godβs word was fulfilled.
πΈ The End of Jezebel
When Jezebel heard
that Jehu was coming,
she put on makeup
and looked out of the window.
Perhaps she thought
she could intimidate him.
When Jehu entered the city,
she called out mockingly:
βIs it well with you, you murderer of your master?β
Jehu looked up
and called out:
βWho is on my side?β
Some servants looked out of the window.
βThrow her down!β Jehu commanded.
She fell.
And her end happened
just as God had announced through Elijah.
It was a serious judgment.
π£ Summary
God had warned for a long time.
Ahab and Jezebel had done much evil.
They had persecuted Godβs prophets
and led the people to false gods.
Now Godβs word was fulfilled.
Jehu became king.
And the house of Ahab came to an end.
God is patient β
but He is also just.
π Message for Children Today
God sees everything.
He sees when people are unfair.
He sees when someone hurts others.
Maybe nothing happens right away.
But God forgets nothing.
At the same time, this means:
God wants us
to turn back in time.
He gives us chances.
It is good
to listen to Godβs voice
before it is too late.
π Reflection
πΈ Do you listen to Godβs warnings?
πΈ Do you use the opportunities God gives you?
πΈ Do you trust that God is just?
