๐Ÿ‘‘ 2 Samuel 20 โ€“ The Rebellion of Sheba โ€“ When Loyalty and Wisdom Save the Peace

โœจ How rebellion, power, and divine order collide in the heart of Israel

๐ŸŒ Read online here

๐Ÿ“ Introduction

After the painful events surrounding Absalomโ€™s rebellion, Davidโ€™s kingdom has not yet found rest. A new rebel raises his voice: Sheba, a man without fear of God but with influence. What follows is a race between rebellion and divine order, between bloodshed and wisdom.

This chapter shows us:
Not every crisis is solved by strength โ€” sometimes by spiritual discernment.

๐Ÿงต Commentary

Sheba, a Benjamite, lifts his voice against David. With a single cry he again ignites division in the people:
โ€œWe have no share in David!โ€

Israel follows him โ€” not because he is righteous, but because he feeds discontent. Rebellion grows where wounds and pride are still open.

David remains firm, but a dark shadow falls over his leadership: Amasa, the newly appointed commander, hesitates. Joab, the old warrior, takes advantage of this. He greets Amasa as if a brother โ€” but his kiss is betrayal. With a single strike Joab murders him in the middle of the road.

The army stalls. Blood and death paralyze it. Joab has Amasaโ€™s body removed so the march can continue โ€” a silent picture of how unhealed guilt can hinder Godโ€™s advance.

Sheba flees to Abel Beth Maacah. The city is besieged. Destruction threatens โ€” because of one rebel.

Then a woman steps forward. Nameless, but wise. Without weapons, without power โ€” but with truth. She speaks to Joab:
โ€œWhy do you want to destroy a mother in Israel?โ€

And Joab listens.

Not through violence, but through wisdom the enemy is handed over. Sheba dies โ€” the city lives. Peace returns.

๐Ÿงบ Summary

  • Sheba causes a new uprising.

  • Joab commits murder out of hunger for power.

  • A whole city is threatened because of one man.

  • A wise woman prevents bloodshed.

  • The enemy is handed over without destroying the innocent.

๐Ÿ‘‰ God does not use only warriors โ€” but also quiet voices of truth.

๐Ÿ”ฆ Message for us today

This chapter reveals a spiritual truth:

God saves not through loudness, but through wisdom.

In a world full of turmoil, pride, and power struggles, God is looking for hearts that love peace and speak truth.

Not every conflict must escalate.
Not every crisis needs a sword.
Sometimes it needs a wise word.

And sometimes the key to saving an entire โ€œcityโ€ lies in one single obedient heart.

๐Ÿ“ Reflection

Where do I stand in the conflict?
Am I like Sheba โ€” dividing?
Like Joab โ€” ruthless?
Or like the wise woman โ€” making peace?

God is looking today for people who do not destroy, but save.
Who do not shout, but listen.
Who do not fight, but reconcile.

โ€œBlessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.โ€ (Matthew 5:9)

๐Ÿ“˜ Blog 4 : ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Saul โ€“ The King According to the Peopleโ€™s Desire

Godโ€™s choice โ€” despite human standards

๐Ÿ“ Introduction

Although Israel acted stubbornly, God appointed the first king: Saul. His outward appearance impressed โ€” but what about his heart?

Commentary

Saul was handsome, strong, and tall โ€” a king by human standards. But he lacked firmness of character and spiritual depth. Still, God met him with grace: He anointed him through Samuel, allowed him spiritual experiences, revealed Himself through signs and prophecy. For a moment Saul became a different man โ€” transformed by the Spirit of God. But his later choices would reveal how dangerous unconquered pride truly is.

๐Ÿงบ Summary

God blessed Saul even though he was chosen on a human basis โ€” a sign of divine grace and patience.
