π 2 Kings Chapter 6 β More Than You Can See
π‘οΈ When Godβs invisible help is greater than any danger
π Introduction
Have you ever been afraid?
Maybe in the dark?
Or when you thought you were all alone?
Sometimes we see only the problem.
Only the danger.
Only what makes us afraid.
But what if God sees much more?
What if help is standing all around you β
even if you canβt see it?
In this chapter, several amazing things happen.
And each one shows:
God is there β even when we cannot see Him.
π The Bible story
π The Floating Axe
The prophets lived together.
But the place became too small.
βLet us go to the Jordan,β they said to Elisha,
βand build new houses there.β
Elisha went with them.
They were cutting down trees by the river.
But suddenly something happened:
βOh no, my lord!β one cried.
βThe axe fell into the water!
And it was borrowed!β
That was serious.
An axe was valuable.
And it wasnβt even his.
Elisha asked, βWhere did it fall?β
The man showed him the place.
Elisha cut a piece of wood
and threw it into the water.
And then the unbelievable happened:
The iron came up
and floated!
βLift it out,β said Elisha.
The man reached out his hand
and took the axe.
God even cared about a borrowed tool.
βοΈ The Enemyβs Plan
But soon things became more serious.
The king of Aram was at war with Israel.
Again and again he planned ambushes.
But each time the king of Israel knew about them
and was able to protect himself.
The king of Aram became angry.
βWho among us is betraying me?β he cried.
But his servants said,
βNo one, my lord.
But Elisha, the prophet in Israel,
tells the king of Israel
even what you speak in your bedroom.β
The king was shocked.
βWhere is he?β he asked.
βIn Dothan,β they answered.
π The City Is Surrounded
During the night the king of Aram sent
horses, chariots, and many soldiers.
They surrounded the city of Dothan.
In the morning Elishaβs servant got up
and saw the army.
Soldiers everywhere.
Chariots everywhere.
He was terrified.
βOh no, my lord! What shall we do?β
But Elisha remained calm.
He said,
βDo not be afraid.
Those who are with us
are more than those who are with them.β
The servant did not understand.
He could only see enemies!
π₯ Opened Eyes
Elisha prayed:
βLord, please open his eyes
so that he may see.β
And suddenly the servant could see more.
The mountain was full of fiery horses
and chariots β
Godβs heavenly army
surrounding Elisha.
They had been there all along.
Just invisible.
The servant was amazed.
He was not alone.
God had protected them.
ποΈ Blinded Enemies
When the enemy soldiers came closer,
Elisha prayed again:
βLord, strike these people with blindness.β
And God did.
Elisha went out to them and said,
βThis is not the right way.
Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are looking for.β
He led them β
not to Dothan,
but into the capital city, Samaria.
There he prayed again:
βLord, open their eyes.β
Suddenly they could see β
and realized:
They were standing in the middle of Israel!
π A Surprising Decision
The king of Israel asked,
βShall I kill them?β
But Elisha said,
βNo.
Set bread and water before them.
Let them eat and drink.
Then send them back.β
Instead of revenge, there was a feast.
The soldiers ate.
Then they went home.
And for a time
no more enemy troops entered the land.
π’ A Severe Famine
But later trouble returned.
The Arameans besieged Samaria.
No one could go out or come in.
Food became scarce.
Very scarce.
The people suffered.
The king of Israel became desperate
and blamed Elisha.
But Elisha said,
βTomorrow at this time
there will be enough food again.β
The kingβs officer mocked,
βEven if God opened windows in heaven β
how could that happen?β
Elisha answered,
βYou will see it β
but you will not eat from it.β
And that is exactly what happened.
But that is another exciting story β¦
