πŸ‘‘ The King is coming soon – Hope beyond the end

πŸ“… February 10 – The Meaning of Obedience in the Great Controversy

Monthly Theme: The Great Controversy – The Conflict Between Good and Evil
Yearly Theme 2026: β€œSoon the King Is Coming – Hope Beyond the End”

πŸ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

β€œFor this is the love of God,
that we keep His commandments;
and His commandments are not burdensome.”
β€” 1 John 5:3

πŸŒ… Devotion of the Day

At the center of the great controversy is not power,
but faithfulness β€” the human heart and its attitude toward the will of God.
From Eden to the return of Jesus, the decisive question is:
Whom do I obey?

The fall of Lucifer began with disobedience;
the redemption of humanity is completed through willing obedience
born out of love.

β€œHe who has My commandments and keeps them,
it is he who loves Me.”
β€” John 14:21

Ellen G. White wrote:

β€œObedience is the true test of discipleship.
Love for God inevitably leads to keeping His commandments;
not from compulsion, but from joy in pleasing Him.”
(Steps to Christ, p. 60)

✨ Obedience – An Expression of Love

God does not demand blind obedience.
He calls for a free decision of love.
Just as a child trusts a father,
so the believer follows the heavenly Father,
knowing that God’s commandments are expressions of His goodness.

β€œThe law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul.”
β€” Psalm 19:7

In every commandment echoes God’s love:
β€œI want you to live.”
The law not only shows us what is right,
but reveals the character of the One
who is love.

Ellen White wrote:

β€œThe law is an expression of the divine nature.
It reveals the character of God,
and obedience to that law
means becoming one with His heart.”
(Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 34)

🌿 Obedience and Grace

Many fear that obedience and grace are opposites.
But the opposite is true:
grace enables obedience.

β€œFor it is God who works in you
both to will and to act
according to His good pleasure.”
β€” Philippians 2:13

We do not obey in order to be saved,
but because we are saved.
Obedience is the fruit of redemption,
not its cause.

Ellen White wrote:

β€œThe obedience that comes from the heart
is the true sign of a renewed life.
It is the result of the love
that the Holy Spirit pours into the heart.”
(The Desire of Ages, p. 330)

When Christ dwells in the heart,
what once seemed impossible
becomes a joy: doing God’s will.

β€œI delight to do Your will, O my God,
and Your law is within my heart.”
β€” Psalm 40:8

πŸ•ŠοΈ The Obedience of Faith

Abraham left his homeland in trust,
not knowing where he was going.
This obedience of faith
was the beginning of a new story.

β€œBy faith Abraham obeyed when he was called.”
β€” Hebrews 11:8

True obedience grows out of trust.
Where faith is lacking, the law becomes a burden;
where love reigns, it becomes a joy.

Ellen White:

β€œThe faith that saves is the faith that works through love.
It purifies the soul and produces the obedience
that pleases God.”
(Steps to Christ, p. 63)

πŸŒ„ Obedience in the End-Time Conflict

At the end of time, obedience will become the test.
The mark of the beast is not merely a symbol,
but the expression of the struggle over God’s authority.
Will humanity obey God or people?

β€œWe ought to obey God rather than men.”
β€” Acts 5:29

Ellen White warned:

β€œObedience to God’s commandments
will be the mark of the faithful in the last days.
Their loyalty will challenge the world,
but heaven will acknowledge them as its own.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 605)

Those who are faithful in small things
will stand in the great test.
Therefore, preparation begins today β€”
in the quiet, unnoticed obedience of daily life.

πŸ™ Prayer

Lord,
teach me to obey You out of love.

Remove from me the spirit of resistance
and give me a heart that delights in Your will.

Strengthen me when the pressure of the world tempts me
to be unfaithful.

Let me stand on the side of Your truth
until You come and reward faithfulness with life.

Amen.

πŸ’ Thought for the Day

When the heart belongs to Christ,
