π Central Bible Verse of the Day
βRemember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days you shall labor and do all your work.
But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God;
in it you shall do no work.β
β Exodus 20:8β10
π Devotional Thought of the Day
In a world that has become restless,
God established an eternal sign of rest and faithfulness β
the Sabbath.
It is not merely a day,
but a sign of the relationship between Creator and creature,
between Redeemer and redeemed.
βAnd the LORD blessed the seventh day and made it holy.β
β Genesis 2:3
The Sabbath was not created only for Israel,
but βfor mankindβ (Mark 2:27) β
a gift from God to all humanity.
It reminds us that we are not products of chance,
but works of His hands and objects of His love.
Ellen G. White wrote:
βThe Sabbath is a sign of Christβs power
to make us holy.
It was given to preserve the connection between humanity and God.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 366)
β¨ The Sabbath β Sign of Creation and Redemption
The Sabbath points to two great truths:
God is our Creator and Christ is our Redeemer.
At the end of creation, God rested β
not because He was tired,
but because His work was perfect.
On the cross Christ cried, βIt is finished!β β
and rested in the tomb on the Sabbath,
as a sign that the work of redemption was also complete.
βFor in six days the LORD made heaven and earth β¦
therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.β
β Exodus 20:11
The Sabbath is the golden bond
that connects creation and redemption.
Ellen White explains:
βThe Sabbath, instituted at creation,
was confirmed at the cross.
It reminds us of Christβs power as Creator and Redeemer.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 387)
πΏ The Sabbath in the Heart of the Law
The fourth commandment stands at the center of the divine law
and reveals the authority of the One who is worthy of worship.
It contains the name, the title, and the domain of God:
βThe LORD (name), your God (title), who made heaven and earth (domain).β
Therefore the Sabbath is the seal of Godβs law.
It reminds us of the true God
and protects us from worshiping what is false.
βMoreover I also gave them My Sabbaths,
to be a sign between them and Me,
that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.β
β Ezekiel 20:12
Ellen White wrote:
βThe Sabbath is the great test of loyalty,
for it is the point of truth
most fiercely contested.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 605)
ποΈ The Sabbath in the End-Time Conflict
In the end times, the question of obedience
and true worship will be at the center of the great controversy.
The world will be urged
to honor a false day of rest,
but Godβs people will hold firmly to the Sabbath of the fourth commandment.
βHere are those who keep the commandments of God
and the faith of Jesus.β
β Revelation 14:12
The Sabbath becomes a sign of faithfulness
for those who acknowledge God as their Creator and King.
Ellen White warned:
βWhen human law opposes the law of God,
the Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty.
Through it, Godβs people will be distinguished from the world.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 605)
Whoever loves God
will honor His day β
not as a burden,
but as a joy.
π Sabbath β A Foretaste of Heaven
Each Sabbath is a foretaste of the eternal rest
that Christ prepares for those
who remain faithful to Him.
βThere remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.β
β Hebrews 4:9
When the redeemed rest in heaven,
the Sabbath will never end.
βFrom one New Moon to another
and from one Sabbath to another,
all flesh shall come to worship before Me, says the LORD.β
β Isaiah 66:23
Ellen White describes:
βThe Sabbath will continue in the new earth
as an eternal sign of the bond between God and His people.β
(The Great Controversy, p. 678)
π Prayer
Eternal Creator,
thank You for the Sabbath, the sign of Your love.
Help me to live in Your rest,
not only on one day,
but in every moment.
Strengthen me to remain faithful to You,
even when the world turns away.
Give me joy in Your holy day
and a glimpse of the eternal rest
You have promised.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
βThe Sabbath is the seal between God and His people.
Whoever keeps it shows the world
that they honor the Creator above all human powers.β
β Ellen G. White, Maranatha, p. 262
