πŸ‘‘ The King is coming soon – Hope beyond the end

πŸ“… February 5 – The Victory of Faith Over the World

Monthly Theme: The Great Controversy – The Conflict Between Good and Evil
Yearly Theme 2026: β€œSoon the King Is Coming – Hope Beyond the End”

πŸ“– Central Bible Text of the Day

β€œFor everyone born of God overcomes the world.
This is the victory that has overcome the worldβ€”our faith.”

β€” 1 John 5:4

πŸŒ… Devotion of the Day

The battle of life is not won on the battlefields of this earth,
but in the quiet heart of faith.
The world fights for our attention, our desires,
our loyaltyβ€”
but God calls us to a higher victory:
the victory of faith.

β€œIn this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

β€” John 16:33

Faith is not a fleeting mood,
but the living connection between human weakness
and divine power.
It is the hand
that joins the human heart to the strength of heaven.

Ellen G. White wrote:

β€œTrue faith means taking God at His word
and acting in trust upon His promises,
even when circumstances speak against it.”
(The Way to Christ, p. 71)

✨ What It Means to Overcome the World

The β€œworld” John speaks of
is more than the visible system of culture, politics, and power.
It is the principle of selfishness
that stands opposed to God’s love.

β€œFor everything in the worldβ€”
the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifeβ€”
comes not from the Father but from the world.”

β€” 1 John 2:16

Satan offers glitter instead of grace,
pleasure instead of purity,
ego instead of surrender.
He tries to chain the heart to what is temporary
so that it loses what is eternal.

But faith lifts its gaze beyond what is seen
and holds fast to what is not yet visible.

β€œFor we walk by faith, not by sight.”
β€” 2 Corinthians 5:7

🌿 The Faith That Endures

Genuine faith grows in trial,
not in comfort.
When life becomes dark,
it is revealed whether we truly know God
or only talk about Him.

Ellen White wrote:

β€œFaith means holding on
even when everything seems to speak against it.
It sees light in the darkness and trusts
when feeling is silent.”
(Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 61)

Like Daniel in the lions’ den,
like Joseph in prison,
like Job in the ashesβ€”
all saw nothing but pain,
yet they clung to the Invisible.

β€œI know that my Redeemer lives.”
β€” Job 19:25

And out of suffering grew the victory of faith.

πŸ•ŠοΈ The Faith That Overcomes

Faith does not overcome by force,
but by trust.
It does not rest on its own strength,
but on the Word of God.

β€œThis is the victory that has overcome the worldβ€”our faith.”
β€” 1 John 5:4

How do we gain this faith?
By looking to Jesus,
the Author and Finisher of faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Ellen White explained:

β€œWhen the eyes remain fixed on Jesus,
no power of darkness can overwhelm.
Faith that rests on Christ
brings victory over sin and the world.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 469)

Victory is not the reward of the strong,
but grace for the one
who believesβ€”even when weak.

πŸŒ„ Faith That Triumphs to the End

At the end of time, the faith of God’s people
will face its greatest test.
When the world turns against truth,
the faith of the saints will shine like stars.

β€œHere is the perseverance of the saints,
those who keep the commandments of God
and the faith of Jesus.”

β€” Revelation 14:12

Ellen White wrote:

β€œThe faith of Jesus means unshakable trust,
even under the greatest distress.
This faith will carry God’s people through the final days.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 623)

The faith of Jesusβ€”
not only faith in Jesus,
but His own faith within usβ€”
is the secret of final victory.

πŸ™ Prayer

Lord,
strengthen my faith
when the winds of doubt blow.

Teach me to trust You
when I see nothing.

Give me the faith of Jesusβ€”
the faith that prays when answers delay,
that loves when hatred comes,
that stands when the world falls.

In You I will overcome,
until I see Your face.

Amen.

πŸ’ Thought for the Day

β€œFaith is the life of heaven in the human heart.
It connects us with the power that has overcome the world.”
β€” Ellen G. White, Maranatha, p. 242

πŸ’‘ Personal Application

  1. Read 1 John 5:1–5 and Hebrews 11.
Find an example of faith that strengthens you today.

  2. Pray: β€œLord, give me the faith of Jesus.”

  3. Practical:
    If you feel discouraged todayβ€”
speak one of God’s promises out loud.
Faith grows when it is spoken.

🌺 Closing Verse
