Year theme 2026: βThe King Is Coming Soon β Hope Beyond the Endβ
π Central Bible Text for the Day
βFor in this hope we were saved.
But hope that is seen is no hope at all.
Who hopes for what they already see?β
β Romans 8:24
π Devotional Thought for the Day
The second day of the year reminds us that our hope does not rest on what is visible.
The world demands proof, visible security, success, and results β but faith means trusting even when we do not see.
The apostle Paul writes:
βFor we walk by faith, not by sight.β
β 2 Corinthians 5:7
These words describe the life of believers shortly before the return of Christ.
We do not yet see heaven opened, we do not yet hear the trumpet β but we live in the certainty that all this will come, because God has promised it.
Ellen G. White writes:
βFaith means trusting God even when we cannot see anything.
We are to build on His promises as though they were already fulfilled.β
(Faith and Works, p. 72)
When our gaze is captured by earthly things, hope can seem far away.
But when we learn to look at Godβs Word instead of circumstances, an unshakable confidence grows within us β a hope that remains, even when everything else trembles.
β¨ The Invisible God β Visible Trust
βThe righteous will live by faith.β
β Romans 1:17
True faith does not cling to what is tangible, but to what God has spoken.
Noah built an ark although no rain had fallen.
Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going.
Daniel prayed even when the lionsβ den threatened.
All these heroes of faith lived βin hope.β
Ellen G. White summarizes it this way:
βThose who will stand in the last days must gain an experience in faith that is not shaken even by trials.
Their trust in God must not waver, even when the sky seems to be falling.β
(Testimonies for the Church, vol. 4, p. 87)
So if today you still do not see what you hoped for β do not give up.
Godβs promise carries you even through quiet days.
Hope is not weak because it is invisible β it is strong because it rests on the unseen.
πΏ A Heart That Waits
βBe patient, then, brothers and sisters, and stand firm, because the Lordβs coming is near.β
β James 5:8
The patience of faith is not inactivity, but an attitude of inner calm.
Those who hope have learned to trust the Lord, even when the road seems long.
Ellen White wrote:
βIt is not a sign of weakness to wait when God asks us to wait.
He tests our hearts to see whether we trust His love in dark hours as much as in times of light.β
(Maranatha, p. 64)
Just as a seed grows underground without anyone seeing it, faith grows quietly within us β nourished by Godβs promises.
And one day, this hope will become visible reality, when heaven opens and the King appears in glory.
π Prayer
Heavenly Father,
thank You for giving us a hope that goes beyond what is visible.
When our faith is weak, remind us that Your promises never change.
Strengthen us, Lord, to learn to walk by faith and not by sight.
Teach us to wait β not with fear, but with joy and trust.
We know that You are coming soon.
Help us to hold on until we see You face to face.
Amen.
π Thought for the Day
βFaith that trusts in the unseen is the key to victory.
As long as we keep our eyes on Christ, no wave will overwhelm us.β
β Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 335
