👑 The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End
🕯️ January 1 – The Blessed Hope
Monthly Theme: The Blessed Hope – Living in Expectation
Year Theme 2026: “The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”
📖 Central Bible Text of the Day
“Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.
In My Father’s house are many rooms…
I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself,
that where I am you may be also.”
— John 14:1–3
🌅 Devotion of the Day
The new year begins—quiet, unassuming, and yet full of questions.
What will 2026 bring? Will peace come? Will the world grow calmer?
Jesus speaks into our uncertainty:
“Let not your heart be troubled.”
With these words, He directs our gaze to the blessed hope—His return.
While people make plans and resolutions, He invites us to live in expectation—not in fear, but in trust.
He is preparing a place for us, and His promise stands firmer than any earthly security:
“I will come again.”
Ellen G. White writes:
“The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church. The heart of every faithful disciple beats faster at the thought: ‘My Lord is coming soon!’”
(The Great Controversy, p. 302)
This hope is not only comfort for the future—it transforms today.
Whoever knows the King is coming soon lives more intentionally, more lovingly, more purely, more decisively.
The expectation of His coming is not an escape, but the greatest motivation to live meaningfully on this earth.
✨ A Life of Preparation
Jesus said:
“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
— Luke 12:40
Being ready does not mean being afraid, but living at peace with God.
Ellen G. White explains it like this:
“Christ’s coming should not be for us a distant hope, but a present reality that shapes our character.”
(The Desire of Ages, p. 636)
A life of expectation is a life of daily closeness to Christ.
Every encounter, every decision, every thought can express this hope.
In this way, the Second Coming becomes not only a future event—it becomes an attitude of the heart.
🕊️ The Reliability of God’s Word
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.”
— Matthew 24:35
Everything in this world changes—but God’s Word remains.
When Jesus says, “I am coming soon,” it is not a wish, but divine certainty.
Ellen White affirms:
“Not one jot or tittle of the Lord’s promises can fail. What God has spoken will come to pass.”
(The Great Controversy, p. 67)
With this certainty we may begin the new year—firmly founded on the Rock of His Word.
🌈 The Joy of Reunion
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God,
and the dead in Christ will rise first.”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:16
On that day, Scripture says, all suffering will pass away.
Separation, death, and pain will come to an end.
Ellen White painted this scene with heavenly hope:
“When Christ appears in the clouds, the call is heard…
Everywhere the voices of the redeemed are heard, crying, ‘Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him!’”
(The Great Controversy, p. 644)
How wonderful: we begin the year not with fear of tomorrow, but with joy for the eternal morning light.
The night of sin is almost over—the day of redemption is breaking.
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You are the beginning and the end, the Lord over time.
On the first day of this year, we thank You for Your faithful Word.
Help us to live in the hope of Your return.
Cleanse our hearts so that we may meet You with joy and trust.
Strengthen our faith that You are coming soon—visible, glorious, and righteous.
Teach us to live each day
as if it were the day we will see You.
Amen.
💭 Thought for the Day
“Every day we live is a step closer to glory.
Let us live as though every day were the day of the Second Coming.”
