π 1 Kings Chapter 17 β Elijah Trusts God
π§οΈ No Rain β And Yet Enough
π Introduction
What happens when God says:
βNow itβs over β no more rainβ?
How do you survive when no water flows and there is no bread left?
This story is about a brave man:
π Elijah.
He dares to tell the king the truth.
And then he experiences how God provides in amazing ways β
through animals, through people, and through a miracle.
π The Bible story
In Israel, King Ahab is now ruling.
He does not listen to God.
He has brought many idols into the land
and even built a temple for Baal.
So God sends a prophet: Elijah.
He stands before the king and says:
βAs surely as the Lord lives β
there will no longer be any rain in this land
until I say so!β
Then Elijah disappears.
And just as he said:
The sky remains closed.
Weeks pass. Months. Everything becomes dry.
But God does not forget Elijah.
He speaks to him:
βGo to the Brook Cherith.
I will give you water.
And I will send ravens
to bring you bread and meat in the morning and in the evening.β
And that is exactly what happened.
πͺΆ Birds as a Delivery Service
Elijah went to the brook.
He drank water β
and every day ravens flew in!
In their beaks they carried pieces of bread and meat.
Every morning. Every evening.
God had a very special plan β
and Elijah trusted Him.
But one day even the brook dried up.
Not a single drop left. What now?
π« A Widow with a Miracle
God spoke to Elijah again:
βGet up and go to Zarephath.
A widow lives there.
I have told her to take care of you.β
So Elijah went on his way.
When he met the woman, he said:
βPlease give me some water β
and a small piece of bread.β
The woman looked sad.
βI have almost nothing left,β she said.
βOnly a handful of flour and a few drops of oil.
I was just about to bake the last bread for my son and me β
and then we will die.β
But Elijah said calmly:
βDonβt be afraid.
Bake something for me first β
for the Lord promises:
The flour will not run out,
and the oil will not fail β
until it rains again!β
And the woman obeyed.
She baked a small loaf for Elijah β
and look:
π The flour did not run out.
π« The oil stayed in the jar.
Day after day she could bake.
God kept His promise.
Elijah, the widow, and her son had enough β
even though a terrible drought was outside.
π£ Summary
Elijah speaks on Godβs behalf.
He announces a great drought β and it stops raining.
But God provides for Elijah in miraculous ways:
πΉ through ravens that bring him food
πΉ through a widow who hardly has anything herself
And because they trust God, they experience this:
Godβs promises hold true β even in difficult times.
π Message for Children Today
Even if you are in a difficult situation β
you can know: God can provide.
Sometimes in unusual ways.
Sometimes through other people.
But He sees you β
and you can trust Him.
If you are asked to give something,
even when you have little yourself:
God can make something great out of something small.

π Invitation to 1 Kings Chapter 18
π₯ Fire from Heaven β Who Is the True God?
The people of Israel have forgotten who their God is.
They worship Baal β a false god.
But God is not silent.
He sends Elijah to open the peopleβs eyes.
On a high mountain, there is a great showdown:
π Baal against the living God.
But only one will answer β with fire from heaven!
π Teaser for Chapter 18
For three years it has not rained.
Everything is dry. The people are desperate.
King Ahab blames Elijah β
but Elijah knows: only God can help.
So he calls the people to Mount Carmel.
There the prophets of Baal will pray β
and Elijah will pray too.
π£ The question is:
Which god will answer with fire?
The prophets of Baal shout for hours β
but nothing happens.
Then Elijah prays only once β
and heaven opens!
π₯ Fire falls down and shows:
π The Lord is the true God!
A chapter full of courage, faith, and real decision.
