Every evening, a little closer to Jesus.

πŸ‘€ Opened Eyes

πŸ“– Luke 24:30–31

β€œWhen he was at the table with them, he took the bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.”
Luke 24:30–31

Sometimes we see only what is directly in front of our eyes.

Problems.

Disappointments.

Questions.

Yet we overlook what matters most.

That is exactly what happened to the two disciples.

They had been walking with Jesus for hours.

They heard his voice.

They saw his face.

And yet they did not recognize him.

Only when Jesus took the bread, gave thanks to God, broke it, and gave it to them were their eyes opened.

Their eyes had not changed.

Rather, their hearts had become ready.

Isn’t it often the same with us?

We ask God for a sign.

Yet perhaps he has already been by our side for a long time.

We wait for a miracle.

Yet he often works very quietly.

Through a Bible verse.

Through a prayer.

Through another person.

Or in a moment of silence.

Today, do not ask God only to change your situation.

Ask him also to open your eyes.

For whoever recognizes Jesus sees life with different eyes.

πŸ’ Think About It

Where might Jesus already have been by your side today without you noticing?

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear Father,

open my eyes to your presence.

Help me recognize Jesus in my everyday lifeβ€”not only in the great moments, but also in the small ones.

Give me an alert heart and attentive eyes for what you are doing in my life today.

Thank you that you are closer than I often realize.

Amen.

πŸŒ™ Sleep well.

Your loving Father never takes his eyes off you.

See you tomorrow.
